Take the money away.

An idea for the Euro qualifiers. Take away the money. Keep the security/police protection etc. but get rid of the swanky 5 star hotels and specially chartered planes.

Make the players slum it a little. 3 or 4 star hotels and regular planes. Get rid of at least half the hangers on. Make them clean their own boots and take away their home comforts.

Make playing for England a tougher experience. Toughen the players up a bit and make them more of a tight knit unit. You'll quickly find the ones that can't hack it and you can get rid of them. Cut back on the media access and sponsorship time wasting photo shoots.

Countries with little or no money can manage to get a decent team together but we've probably spent the most money to produce the worst results.
