Mangala transfer goes through tomorrow
About effing time.
I'm a bit worried by the defence for the start of the season.
Zabba is being rested and Sagna hasn't trained with the squad yet. Clichy has been playing RB (and done alright). Richards hasn't been good at all.
Left back is Kolarov, so can't complain.
At CB, our first three in the pecking order (Kompany, Dimi and Mangala) haven't started training with the boys yet.
Nasty still doesn't look like he can concentrate properly. Boyata just doesn't cut it for me and Rekik has been caught out of position a few times.
I'm not concerned by who we field against Arsenal, but we have a tough start and our main defenders haven't even started training with the team yet.

Kompany gets caught out of position a few times also and sometimes lunges in too, no player is perfect. I think we sometimes imagine VK to be some kind of demi-god, he is easily our best CB but we have to give the others a chance to establish themselves and develop a working partnership with VK and others.

Believe it when I see it! I'm so underwhelmed with the whole thing and another prima doña in the ranks.

I agree Atlblue. If this guy turns out to be bad, we are back to square one. There is the excuse of no pre season for starters and it does usually take some time to get to know your CB partner.
We should have walked away a long time ago or got it sorted a long time ago.

Although I am extremely underwhelmed by this transfer, all will be forgiven after a couple of early good performances.
I have learnt to trust Pellers judgement of a player.

Still not signed ........ Quelle Surprise !!!
We really need to knock this on the head now. I would stick with Demi after the way he finished the season. Save the cash.

£32M buys us ISCO and a song. I can't think of anything that rhymes with Mangala.

I thought the Greek centre-back Manolas looked decent, quick & strong. Probably be a lot less than £30 mil as well. I'm only going off his World Cup performance, dunno much else about him...

I agree, he probably would be cheaper, but I'm not convinced Greece is the best place to go shopping for high end footballists, no matter how well they played.Disaster_Tskhadadze wrote:I thought the Greek centre-back Manolas looked decent, quick & strong. For £30m, I'd have gone for Shaw. He's young, English and hungry. Mangalalala, by contrast, is young, foreign and has a massive ego.

how about the old "man nah man nah" "do do do do do". I remember back in the 70's it was on the muppet show which got it back into the charts around 1977. just looked it up piero umiliani chart position #8 Apr 77.

Re: Mangala transfer goes through tomorrow
top dawg whilst I to think it ws way off I was having trouble linking mangala with anything that rhymes. That tune popped into my head, but it would be only a single mangala b4 the do do do do do. Not that that is brilliant but it is the best I can do for now.
