Charity Shield - who's going?
Apologies if there's already been a thread posted on this, I've not been on here much recently, it's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks!
Anyway, just wondering who will be making the trip down to London on the 7th for the Charity Shield. It's an important game as victory would set us up perfectly for the start of the season, but I get the feeling it's not quite the same as our two most recent visits to Wembley. Was speaking to me dad the other day and he doesn't reckon he'll get tickets, reckons he spent about £600 overall with both trips last season.
So who will be going no matter what, who's undecided, and who's prepared to give it a miss?

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
i might take my lads there since they have never been to a footy match (3yo and 2yo).
we live in france and, with the two kids, it's tricky getting to any matches these days.

I've got the hotel booked, but i'll see nearer the time, would rather watch this one in the pub tbh.

Fantastic country mate. I like it around Brittany, but love it down in Provence. Before we had our daughter, we used to hire villas out down there for our holidays. You can't beat a lazy cafe lunch washed down with the local plonk. I just wished you could get the standard of food over here that they take for granted over there.

i wish we didn't have to pay so much for everyday stuff over here. we used to think we got screwed over on prices in the uk but over here it is ridiculous.

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
Im not going purely on the grounds of cost, I'd rather go to a couple of the European games. I was informmed this morning I was a 'tightarse' by somw mates who are going on the American tour when I informed them that I wasn't.
Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
the american tour must be costing them a fair bit.
there is only so much money in the pot.
i'd love to be able to fly back every 7-10 days to watch city play but my body wouldn't sell for enough money to make it possible.

Young lads with few commitments in reasonably well paid jobs. Honestly, I'm not jealous.
Are there any budget airlines doing Manchester-Paris? I went on Jet2 a couple of years ago but they've scrapped that route.

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
no budget airlines anymore. easyjet to liverpool or jet2 to leeds-bradford.
it would make a round trip over £300 which is a bit hot for me.

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
Bloody hell, it only cost £32 all-in when I flew to Paris to watch England. I used to fly from Amsterdam to M/CR every other weekend to watch City and it used to be around £60 which I could handle as I worked the weekend inbetween.
Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
Depends on availability and price.
If I can get a ticket, and it isn't silly money, then i'll definitely go. My sister lives in Brentwood, so accomodation isn't a problem.

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
Don't think I'll be using the season tickets to go if my old man isn't to be honest, planning on going to the Bolton and Fulham away games anyway so don't want to burn all my money in one go.
Probably play it by ear though, see how much tickets are and that. Speaking of ears...
Slightly off topic, went out last night, woke up, can't hear in one ear, reckon it was my mates horrible bird screeching in my ear all night that's done it, is this bad?!

Only problem with France is it's full of French people , apart from that it's lovely.

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
plenty of brits about in france too.
best moment was taking my youngest to the eiffel tower the morning after we won the semi in his city top.
saw plenty of brit kids around, some even daring to wear their rag tops.
I just managed to stop myself taking the piss out of these kids (about 8 year olds). If only my lad could talk properly we'd have had a ball!

Re: Charity Shield - who's going?
Just renewed my season ticket. It works out at £26.57 a game. I reckon that's a bargain when Fulham and QPR will be charging over £50 a pop to go to their 'quaint' stadiums.
