Top 5 shite films
As suggested by TBW, but then not followed up on (you are allowed to start new topics, mate!)
A couple of rules before I start my list...
So here it is:
The last one was a toss-up with Superman 4, which was utterly dreadful as well. I mean, come on, nuclear man? Urgh. But I'll let the Man of Steel off because it had a budget of 27 pence, which sort of mitigates the reused special effects.
A couple of rules before I start my list...
- I'm not choosing any films from the following directors: Tim "I know, we can make it weirder with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter" Burton and Michael "Ooh, I luuurve CGI explosions!!" Bay. Because I can't stand either of their works. Except Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice was cool.
- I'm not choosing any of those spoof movies, because they are mostly very bad indeed and too cheap a shot.
So here it is:
- The Matrix Reloaded - The original film was really good (but not quite 'desert island disc'), but I watched this steaming pile in a cinema in New York and thought it was utter shite. And then it went, "To be continued." To this day, I've never watched the third one.
- The Grey - Liam Neeson is boring, the film is just slow and odd. And then it doesn't even have a proper ending!
- Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street - I never knew it was a musical, and I never expected the film to be one either. It was so bad, I was tempted to leave the cinema! I should've read up on it first, as I'd have got as far as "Director: Tim Burton" and decided to watch something else. Yeah, yeah, I'm breaking my own rule here, but it was bad even beyond the remit of Burton.
- The Counselor - I'd heard the book was good, so I decided to take a punt on the film. After 40 minutes of a mix of soft core porn and people talking in riddles, I was so confused that I couldn't work out what the plot was any more. I don't think I've ever watched a film that's left me so perplexed that I was glad for the end credits!
- Batman & Robin - I hated the Robin character (it came this close to ruining "Batman Forever", my favourite of the reboots) and combining that with the pun overload, baddies who had mutually exclusive aims for world domination (plants and ice? Yeah, course!) and the lack of any plot whatsoever. Awful, awful film. And the director even apologises for it on the DVD!!

Just about any film with animals as the star. Except ones with Clint Eastwood as well.

Re: Top 5 shite films
Sorry, I threw in the suggestion then just walked away.
I will start a thread once I get over my crippling self-doubt and shyness.
As for shite films, well how can you not start with Annie? Hate that little singing shit. Arghhhh
Spanglish. Never heard of it? That's because it was complete crap.
Skeleton Key. Supposedly frightening, but what a load of dull tosh.
Anything with Hugh Grant in. That same apologetic character, stuttering, through film after film. No no no.
Braveheart. In fact any film with that anti-English, shit acting, anti-Semitic, drug addled thug in it. Used to love the first Mad Max, but can't even watch that now.
King Kong. The one with Jack Black. It took three hours before the story started. Tedious.
Now I'm in a foul mood. Why did I ever think up this topic?

Four weddings would've been a great film, if only that annoying twat didn't keep showing his ugly face and demonstrating the acting ability of a four year old in their first nativity play.
