White cabbies in Rochdale

I can't say I'm surprised.  After the child grooming scandal there, I can imagine there'd be a subset who'd not want to trust an Asian driver again, and especially at Eagle, where two of those who were found guilty were working there as cabbies.

And there's no law against it, just like there's no law against insisting on a Black or Asian driver.  Or a female one.  I suspect it'll cause a bit more of a stir, though, because being white is like being a second class citizen these days, where race is concerned.

It's only going to increase the racial tensions there, though.  Just like it did in Oldham.  You'd think that witnessing what happened in a town that's a mere bus ride away might make people stop and think...

I don't get what the big deal is. If i didn't want an Asian driver, i'd insist on it. Nobody should be able to decide that for us, it's our right. This is all being blown out of proportion, as the PC brigade start to make a few noises again.

The problem for these Taxi firms should only be when they don't employ people from different cultural backgrounds....although, i guess this is already being done now.

Problem is Shaken....if this was deemed acceptable, then before we know it, we'll have customers walking into McDonalds or Nat West and asking for a white person.

It sets a precedent.

I'm no pro PC brigade, in fact I've already posted on here my thoughts on the Human Rights Law, but this 'may' create a greater divide in the town.

I guess most taxi firms have a different mix of ethnicity of workers anyway.

Only if a group of Asian bank clerks from the Nat West, etc, etc groomed young white girls, as the pervy Asian taxi drivers did.

There's no 'may' about it.  Dividing the different cultures only breeds suspicion, which only leads to fear.  And then, as Yoda said, that then leads to anger, hate and suffering.  Much as I hate paraphrasing from such a source, it's actually pretty pertinent.  It's precisely what happened in Oldham - keeping the groups separated just ended in riots.  Not that anything's changed much since, from what I can gather...
