http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2914099/Jose-Mourinho-Arsene-Wenger-cry-foul-City-s-25m-Wilfried-Bony-signing.html

And then....Maureen in his pre-match press conference says that referee's don't give them enough fouls and that Hazard is an amazing player as he gets consistently fouls and NEVER EVER goes down and is naive.

Amazing, that during the week you hear nothing - then right before a game, he comes out with this crap. I think most refs now see through him.

Jose Mourinho is not the man to take up the fight for responsible spending in football.

The Chelsea manager might well question how his main title rivals have managed to splash out £25m on a striker despite breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

But a man who used Roman Abramovich’s billions to bulldoze the Premier League in his first spell at Stamford Bridge - and is trying to do likewise in his second - is in no position to throw stones.

Just as United fans who once claimed the moral high ground over their big spending, noisy neighbours, have been silenced in the face of Ed Woodward’s plans to build a squad of Galacticos at Old Trafford.

Undoubtedly the FFP sanctions placed on City this season do need to be looked at.

Spending £32m on Eliaquim Mangala and £25m - rising to £28m - on Bony makes a mockery of the suggestion that they have been dealt any kind of punishment.

Yet Mourinho’s petulant claims that the ‘rules are different’ for City rings hollow from the manager of a club that has spent so outrageously for more than a decade.

£50m on Fernando Torres anyone?

“If they have the money and no problems with FFP, well done,” said Mourinho. “Rules are different for City. You know what I mean.

“They can only play with 11 unless rules are different for them. It looks like they are in certain aspects.”

Mourinho is in a position to pass judgement because Chelsea had a five-year head start on City to alter the landscape of British football with a mega-rich owner.

Abu Dhabi oil allowed City to follow that model until the advent of FFP sought to rein in speculators.

In this case, timing is everything - and the years of Champions League revenue has turned the one-time upstarts from Stamford Bridge into the establishment. Old money, if you like, compared to City’s nouveu riche.

City’s finances are up to UEFA to scrutinise, not Mourinho - yet his verbal grenade hardly comes as a surprise.

Choosing to end his self-imposed gag at the end of a week when his main title rivals sign a striker who could prove pivotal in the race to be Premier League champions, doesn’t look like a coincidence.

In Mourinho’s world, the strategy for success stretches beyond the training ground or tactics board - and into the press room, and column inches and soundbites that follow.

The purpose? To unsettle his opponent.

But if there are any conclusions to be drawn from this latest episode of the Jose Mourinho show, it is that he is the one who is rattled.

It was Pellegrini who had the last laugh last season - securing the title as Chelsea faded.

This term Mourinho has already seen a one-time nine-point lead eaten away - and in the back of his mind will be the nagging realisation that it is City who are the seasoned winners in comparison to his league leaders.

The addition of one of the deadliest finishers in the league only strengthens their challenge.

The fear for Mourinho is that despite their financial might, it is the resolve of City that makes them such a force.

“I don’t think this club or this team is just money,” said Pellegrini. “Maybe in the media (they) say it’s just money - it’s not money. We have good players. Every team needs good players if they want to win important things.

“But after that, the way we play is very important - if we want to win.”

Given that this season’s title will be contested by two clubs with super-rich benefactors, it will come down to more than money. Perhaps that’s what’s got Mourinho so rattled.

i'm glad mourinho keeps on getting the headlines just as Rodgers did last season whilst we calmly go about our business under the radar.

With Chelsea winning 5-0, the dippers winning and manure as well, there's not much to watch MotD for is there?
