I show the Fire Brigade time-lapse of this incident when training Fire and Smoke for airlines, about how rapidly a fire can spread. Horrific footage showing human beings in negative panic, fans cheering as if at a bonfire, until they realise people are actually trapped - and the incredible bravery of some fans and Police Officers trying to rescue trapped fans and getting set on fire themselves during the process.

The truth needs to be found - just as much as the JFT96 who memorialise over their loss every year.

Kin el blue, i'm fillin up here.....very sad.

I'm just imaging my Dad taking me as a kid to the football, we used to sit on wooden seat in a wooden stand....it could have happened to probably any of us in our younger days.

It needs a full and proper investigation. It would seem many things were not properly or thoroughly investigated in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Exactly...very powerful read and brought back a lot of emotions in me as well, for the same reasons.

I used to go to all the Maine Rd and a lot of away matches with my dad and uncle from the age of 6/7...so when I read it, it conjured up a load of memories.

That was Part 2, but if you want?

Part 1 is here:

We still use that footage in training courses, it brings silence to the room every time.
One of the worst aspects of that day was the fact that ambulance crews got sent to the wrong address: and even though they were contacting their control to say they could see the fire was elsewhere, they were told to proceed to the original (wrong) address given.
And still some people bemoan new stadia and hanker for the old grounds!
