Tbh, i can't believe he was never one of the 1st ones to be investigated when it all kicked off.

Hopefully, the horrendous decision to award Qatar the 2022 WC will be reversed and put out to tender again.....winter WC my arse.

I didn't realise this is all because the US got all pissy lipped about the 2022 World Cup. They had bid for it then too. Although it needed to be done, it does make me laugh that they think it's their divine right to control everything.

Not really sure it's about the WC not being awarded to the USA.

It's more likely to do with the fact that $ have been laundered through US banks and offshore accounts. I'm sure the fact that they unearth a load of corruption at FIFA and Blatter in particular, is a bonus.

I see Australia have now come out and given a statement on funds they were told to transfer for 'consultancy' fees to FIFA for their 2022 bid - which now can't be accounted for. $500,000, but they were told to pay $4m...but refused.

It's not "with immediate effect", he has stated that he will remain in post until after elections have been held to find a replacement. Probably he will be there until at least December according to reports in the press.
