Re: £98.5m in prize money....
And so it goes on... The lions share of the TV money goes to the teams that are shown on TV most often. I had this discussion with a rag many, many years ago and he refuted it very strongly, saying that "all Premier League clubs get the same." Well, they didn't then and they don't now.
Aside from the anomaly of the rags getting more money than Arsenal, there's an even more glaring anomaly in that Newcastle, despite scraping through the season and narrowly avoiding relegation, earned enough appearance money to peg them a higher income than Palace, who finished in a much higher position.
Oh, and they should be a place higher still as they actually got more than Stoke as well, I just noticed.

Stoke got themselves bugger all money for tv appearances. It seems that people just don't want to watch the cloggers.

Stoke played some of the best attacking football in the final few months of the season.

And more people wanted to watch the toon army, whose football was worse than QPRs. Go figure...Topdawg wrote:Stoke got themselves bugger all money for tv appearances. It seems that people just don't want to watch the cloggers.

It's all about viewing figures, popularity and teams attendances....that's why small clubs get shown the least.

Chelsea don't have huge attendances, they are often boring to watch and only enjoy popularity among their own fans, obviously. I can't see too many other fans boosting their viewing figures.
