Still £8m for someone who'll do more running than TLF.

Still think he's better than Fernando and as Leo said, will run 10x more than TLMLF.

To be fair, Fernando and Delph are totally different Mf's one is an attacking midfielder and one is a defensive or holding midfielder and shite, you can work out which is which.

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
If you were to write a list of the top 50, or even try 100 midfielders in the world, how many of these lists would contain Delph?
He's garbage and only worth more than 1 million because he's English and got a couple of caps.
Rather promote 1 from the youth for cover, give Barker a go etc..
Fernando started alright but petered off and then got overrun every game where he was paired with Toure.
The only English midfielders we should be looking towards currentlyu maybe -
Sterling (£40m max)
Wilshire (£25m max)
Barkley (£20m max)
Grealish (£10m max)
and thats hoping on some potential.. Delph would be an utter waste of money. Almost as bad as Willy... (or Boyatta's wages)

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
Grealish? £10m? You kidding?
He's had one or two decent games and all of a sudden he's worth £10m?
He was utter shite in the FA Cup final....lost the ball pretty much every time he got it.
We do over-hype English talent.
Of your list:
Sterling, just pay them the £50m and get on with it.
Wilshere - scored two good goals for England, bit has a worse injury record than our very own sicknote.
Barkley, what an awful season he's had - wouldn't get anywhere near our starting 11 unless he improved 70%.
And then we have Grealish.
TBF...the ONLY players that would improve our first 11 would be Sterling to replace Navas and Wilshere when fit.
Delph has played really well for Villa last season - is he better than Fernandinho and Fernando? I think so...and he's English and we could get him for £8m, but your banding around figures of £10m for some kid who's had one or two good games, £20m and £25m for players who injury records are appalling.
Come on, get real. £8m is nothing for a player of Delph's quality and energy, plus he's English. Whether he'd start every week, I doubt it if we got Pogba, De Bruyne and Isco.

I concur wi Blue
8 million is an absolute snip Delph is no worse than Milner IMO Hard worker bit of skill and wd prob get more goals than Jimmy & even if he's shit we cd sell him
& not make a big loss like we normally do
Bite their hands off & make him the 1st signing

Agree, after a season or two, if he becomes another Sinclair - we'd easily recoup our money, and who knows, maybe make a profit for once!

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
I've got to agree with Bluey here too. We shouldn't be talking about spending more on Grealish when Delph would be a quick win. I know he's not a superstar, but how many of the rags team in 2013 were superstars when they won the league?
We don't need flair players. Most of the teams we come up against are only going to park the bus against us and all our superstars do fuck all to break them down - most of them won't try and the ones that do (ie Serge and Silva) end up double marked out of the game.
No. We need some journeymen to help us against the lower lights, some players who don't have egos and images to protect. We need an Andy Morrison. You don't need a precision tool to knock in a nail.

no leo but you need someone with an ounce of sense. whoever reckons delph is better than fernandinho needs a brain transplant & milner is twice the player delph is I am in with mooney here even at 8 million delph is crap. that said I do concur with Blue in so far as barklay has had a shit season & grealish is no way worth 10 million yet, Lets see what a full season does for the lad.

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
That's the problem with young players, you re paying a hefty price just for potential. Wait one year and a player goes from £10M to £25M if he has a decent season and someone else could steal a march on us.
I'm in the buy Delph for £8M camp. He's worth more than that because of his age, experience and he does have some ability. If he doesn't make it with us next season, then sell him on for £15M+.

I think Grealish has lots of potential.
Delph has already maxed out at being average..

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
Are any of Fernando, Fernandinho, Toure, Silva, Nasri, Navas leaving?
If not and even for only £8m, what's the point of getting Delph anyway?

I suspect none of the above will leave. Maybe if we got Sterling and de Bruyne that Navas might figure his number is up and he should move on. All the others seem to have made some commitment to the cause.

Ah yes, if you add Sterling n De Bruyne to the cause too, it makes even less sense to get DelphTopdawg wrote:I suspect none of the above will leave. You can see their thinking though, a HG work horse has left so replace him with a similar HG work horse. I have no problem signing Delph. The said Fernando, Fernandinho or Navas can all leave for me. I'd have delph over them all.

Re: Delph's buyout clause is only £8m
I'd let Fernando have another season seeing he was injured early on and, according to him, came back to early.
Fernandinho isn't a DM and doesn't offer enough going forwards so he can go for me.
If Navas was an EDS player we'd be looking to offload him in the summer or send him out on loan to a championship club...
