Team for Tonight

Anybody have any preferences?
I'd rather go with Barker and Roberts on the wings and try some pacey wide play.

Keep the back 5 in place, want them to get used to each other.

it really depends on if pel wants us to go deep in this competition. Every time we play a weakened side or fringe players we always seem to come up short. Realisticly this is the trophy most mid table prem clubs feel they can win so they put out a reasonable amount of 1st teamers. I expect Sunderland to play their full 1st team so am not expecting much from this game.

I don't know what I'm expecting from this one. Are Sunderland going to attempt a trophy or try and hang on to their league status? It's a funny one, this...

I'd be inclined for us to bow out of it, purely because I'd prefer us to concentrate on the bigger CL fish.

I hope he doesn't play Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne or Yaya in this game. This competition is last on the list of priorities and these 4 should even be on the bus up.

The team can consist of any of the rest + kids as far as i'm concerned.

Solid back 7 to keep them out and 3 kids with KdB. Bony needs a rest. Sterling needs dropping anyway, but we'll call it a rest.

I think Clichy if he's fit might get some pitch time, and Yaya in the press thing he wants in for KdB on that team..
Sergio could probably do with 30 minutes to keep working onhis sharpness also depending on how the game is going..

I don't think Clichy's fit and it's definitely not on Sky....it's Villa v Brum.

Cant see Sunland putting out a strong team TBH. PL survival has to be their priority & they play the filthy rags away next. We should be able to put out a strong 2nd team that should beat their 2nd team but we all know what happened last season in the North East
Dawg's team would be excellent although Clichy in for Kolarov if he's fit enough. Maffeo apparently may get a look in at FB as well

We need to win this, three defeats on the bounce in three different competitions will not be good for morale.
Let's get that winning habit back.
