Think that's way too harsh!

Roberts started off running with the ball, then all of a sudden, they stopped passing the ball forward with 25 mins to go. Tough to judge him on 45 mins, especially as pretty much every City player came out for the second half like they couldn't be arsed.

By the time Garcia came on after 79 minutes, City had just given up passing the ball forward altogether, so it's unfair to judge him on 13 mins.

Evans got 5 minutes - so you can hardly say he was able to show his talents.

So, I guess you wouldn't bother giving them any further game time this season, as one player had 45 mins, the other 13 and the other 5???? Rolling Eyes

I didn't see the game, but being 4-0 at HT could MP not have thrown all 3 on?....surely that wouldn't have been too much of a gamble.

Giving 2 kids less than 15 minutes when you're 4 nil up (don't know what min S/land scored in before anyone says owt) is a tad poor imo.

He brought Navas off for Roberts on 55 mins.

Garcia got 13 mins and Evans got 5 mins.

They scored in the 83rd minute.

Agree, 4-0 up he could have brought Navas and Sterling off for Roberts and Barker and saved a sub for later on in case of injury. I wouldn't mind, the senior players just couldn't be arsed in the second half, they were at walking pace at times.

I didn't even watch the game, but on the radio they were saying that the kids we brought on weren't even given a chance to shine, the first teamers just couldn't be bothered to help them out.

Roberts did try a couple of times when he got the ball, but then it felt like they were told to hold shape and just see the game out.
I can understand the not wanting to pick any knocks up from the game so we came through with an easy win and no injuries.
Just a shame Barker didn't get on, though as there was no attacking intent it's not too surprising he went for more holding types.

On the flip side of that though moon, could you really see MP bringing Barker on (for let's say Sterling) with 15 to go if it's locked at 1-1?

The way I look at is this:

We ALL want the kids to get some game time.

We all want them to taste 1st team football.

We've invested heavily in our academy.

IF, there was any competition for them to get game time, I'm sure all would agree that the C1C is the competition.

IF, we could imagine a dream scenario to introduce the kids, I'm sure all would say "bang in a few goals first half, get a comfortable lead and throw them in for the second half if they haven't started"

Last night, we were 4-0 at HT to Sunderland.

Was there EVER an ideal situation to blood the kids with at least 45 mins for a couple and 15-20 mins for the 3rd? LAST NIGHT WAS THAT NIGHT.

Yet, we saw 35 mins from Roberts, 13 mins from Garcia and 5 mins from Evans.

When will we ever be in a situation again this season, that would be more perfect? And that's assuming three or four young kids will make the bench again this season.

judging by what a lot of people are saying on other forums it appears that some of the reasoning may have been to give sterling & aguero more game time as they are not in the best of form. I did not see the game as we had no televised rights bein sports Australia  were showing the villa game.

And you can hear the rags game on Corrie Wink

I see old hook nose is up to his usual trick of playing a weak side against the scum. But this time they might win!
