City v Villa - Live Thread
So...team? Do you care?
For what it's worth, I think he'll play this:
Hart
Sagna, Vinny, Mangala, Kolorov
Fernandinho,
Navas,TLMLF, Sterling,
Aguero, Bony

Team News in 10 mins...if anyone cares.
Wouldn't surprise me to hear a very quiet Etihad today, especially if we don't score early.

Let me get this straight....Silva, who looked injured on Weds and was awful plays...Sterling, who was rested in the 2nd half on Weds, is on the bench - and MP thinks the players are tired???
Spuds go 2-1 up against 10 men Arsenal...what a goal by Kane.

Bony-fucking-idle.
Well that was fucking shite....if this manager keeps Bony on the pitch at the start of the second half - he can fuck off at 16:45.

Got the correct City score but had Sergio as my captain in FF so couldn't really win
Good 2nd half performance We will need to step it up though coz Arsenal Chelsea & the rags won't be anywhere near as shit as Villa

Bony made one decent pass all fucking game. Sergio ran his nuts off covering for him.
Wonderful second goal by Aguero....
Still, they are fucking rubbish, so all we can take are the 3 points...Spuds n Gooners drawing was a help, WHU coming back from 2 down to win 3-2 puts added pressure on the rags tomorrow.
Only one thing for it now...."come on Watford"!!!!

Watford are miles better than us... we really don't deserve to he 4th. If not for Kun we probably would not be in top 10. Terrible team we are thanks to the manager!

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
We have beaten Watford home and away this season - so don't know how you figure that one. They are a low scoring team but decent defenders.
Thought Clichy, Aguero and Navas were our best players today - and they all worked hard.

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
Not a dig but it seems it doesn't matter how we perform some 50/60% of posters dislike Pellegrini & his management style. I am indifferent, there are times when we should & could play better but times like today where a match we are expected to win has been won convincingly but it is still not enough for some. I do not personally believe with 10 games to go it would be worth replacing Pel. I don,t believe the powers that be think like that either.
I get the frustrations but would we be any better of with the managers that are available out there until Pep arrives? Some posters do not like the manager period, no matter what the result I cannot see ever a change of heart there. As I have said before if we win the league it would be we are lucky not the other teams managers being inept or them being unlucky, or the other teams inability to finish the job.
A no win situation so I will take the 3 points move on to Norwich away next week & see what happens. If we lose? the dogs abuse will be written, if we win it will still probably be written though not so vehemently, just some still voicing there opinion that Pel is useless. Fair play to that if that is what you feel. It appears we have come to accept nothing less than virtual perfection so that end there will be no winners only losers.
Yes there are some players who do not perform & yes you can question why the manager plays them week in week out, but I have an opinion of some players which differs from others & I am happy to admit as I have this season when I am wrong, but some players seem to get it regardless because they are not liked no matter what they do. Some are deserving such as Kolarov, & I will admit Bony whom I have defended, but has largely been a huge disappointment to say the least.

Result is not the only thing that matters. Its the manner of the win/loss and if you analyse our games you will realise that we are not a team. We are a bunch of quality individuals. To put is simply we are tactically inept. If you can't see that then there is no point in having this debate in my view!

exactly no point as you stated. I have my opinion which obviously differs to yours. I believe that the win loss is the only thing that matters, because I know how pissed a lot of fans are after a defeat & how much better it seems after a win. The more games won the more silverware follows & for 50 years of supporting City I have seen a number of Barren years & I know where i'd rather be in terms of competing. So winning does matter.

I said winning is not the ONLY thing that matters oz. Please read carefully before you respond.
I think we have to agree to disagree hence my reason for not wanting to debate this love you have for MP if that is ok with you all. You can continue believing that MP is a top manger because he has top players at his disposal and we SOMETIMES batter poor teams (remeber last time we drew against Villa) with our individual brilliance and I will continue believing that he is rubbish.
I don't care how long you have been supporting city that is irrelevant but if you think winning is everything then here is another opnion that we have to agree to disagree on.

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
I've tried to stick up for the manager a few months ago, but lately, he's getting me down.
I'm sure we could argue that we've won a cup already. And fair enough.
However, for the past 12 months, overall, we've played poorly under his stewardship. Injuries haven't helped, but neither have his selections.
An example; yesterday he continues with Bony after he had an absolutely woeful first half. On the bench we have Kelechi who's goal record and performances outshine every single one of Bony's in all departments, yet, he sticks with him.
How do we explain Weds efforts and performance? That's not an isolated occasion either. It's pretty much been the norm this season. Yesterday, we were 0-0 at half time, at home, versus an absolutely dire team. There was no urgency, no energy. Yes, we got a fairly quick goal, then another which settled everything...but we shouldn't have to wait until 53 mins to actually start playing with tempo.
Even though we've won a trophy, I've been very underwhelmed with his tactics and motivational capabilities this season.
My comments at half time were borne out of frustration to what I watched for 45 mins. It was pathetic...a word I've used more often this season than I wanted to.
There have been very few occasions over this season so far, where I've actually said "they played very well today"...probably the Kiev game was the last one, but prior to that, it was probably Newcastle at home, months ago.
Were those performances down to Pellegrini or he players....who, I add, need to shoulder some of the blame as well.
As I've said on numerous occasions, it's all opinions...otherwise what's the point of the forum.
Personally, I'm just fed up of his selections.

and I said I believe winning IS the only thing that matters please read carefully pg.. I only responded to s your belief on win /loss.Supporting city through my lifetime is not irrelevant, as the gash that I have witnessed in those years, makes the Mancini/Pel years seem like pure fantasy and probably more appreciative of the managers we have had in recent times.
Blue as much as I agree with you on Bony it was his through ball for aguero,s 1st so irrespective of his performance which was woeful & he was brought off with 30 mins left he still had a contribution to the result. yes underwhelmed ayt times but I am sorry but getting the result means we are in the frame regardless of how we play.

A bit harsh PG, he never said MP was a top manager nor did he say he loved him, in fact he actually stated right at the start of his post that he was "indifferent" to Pelligrini. We all post our opinions to which we are entitled and this can lead to debates between those with differing views but no need to get belligerent.

if we play shit and win 4-0 in every remaining game and win the title i am sure nobody will criticise the team or the manager for being clueless or tactically inept and MP would be hailed a genius.

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
Don't doubt that for one minute MCM.
We're a fickle bunch. Just out of interest, would you like it we played like Jose's Chelsea teams of the past, win 1-0, shut up shop and win trophies?
I wouldn't...but just another spin on the win/loss debate.
Not saying anyone's correct or wrong...as Oz said, it's about opinions.
Oh, and I did say "except 1 good pass" with regards to Bony.

It's one thing winning 4-0 against Villa, at home playing like that...but that was Villa. We can't do it against the top teams....I think that's part of my frustration. And winning 4-0 playing shit, just ain't happening this season, so it's difficult to quantify that argument....this season especially.

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
Again of read my quote. .I said IF you believe ... and you seem to be one if the few tgat stick up for him so you don't need to say more to prove that infact you do like him in a way.
You think you have seen bad times. I have seen nothing but bad times in the 35 yeats I have supported them but that is beside to point.
We have to move on. The owners have spent a fortune and mediocre tactics and team selection is no acceptable considering the investment we have had.
It is rediculous to think I begrudge someone for thinking different... I am just saying you cannot convince me and it seems tgat I cannot convince you so lets just leave it at that because I hate sounding like a bloody broken record and I am sure you do too.

Re: City v Villa - Live Thread
Obviously winning matters There is little point playing blinding exciting football if you lose every week
I think the main frustration is that we all believe we should have done a lot better this season. Admittedly we have 1 trophy in the bag, one which I was convinced we would lose but for some unknown reason thankfully Loserpool didn't turn up at Wembley and yet have spanked us at home & away in the league. There is no way we should be 10 points behind Leicester or being pushed for a CL place by a frankly turd Man United team
We started the season on fire & then as soon as CL was upon us our form slid - beaten by Juve at home and then West Ham at home. From then on it's been very very inconsistent. Some great results but many poor results particularly against top teams - defeats by Spuds & Lpoo twice. Losses against Arse & Leicester. Very poor performances v Stoke & Villa
Now I don't expect us to win every game & I have seen many barren years (although not as many as Skybluez) and really dreadful teams but I do expect some effort and passion especially from players who earn more in a week than I do in 3 years. The 1st half yesterday was woeful & there have been many like it. The manager has to motivate these players and if they aren't putting in the effort they should be substituted and/or dropped. MP doesn't do this.
I could go on and on but there is no point -MP is leaving in a few months. All I am now bothered about is finishing in the top 4 as it would be a real pisser for Pep having to playing in the Europa League
