Sad news...a legend of football dies.

Sad news, Johan Cruyff has died. RIP.

Iniesta is quoted as saying.."he built the cathedral, it's just been our job to maintain it".

Along with Pele, Cryuff was the 1st real "world superstar" of football that i grew up knowing.....although i never really got to see him play that much (as i was too young).
The footage shown of him was brilliant though .....i guess you don't win the Ballon d'Or 3 times and move for a world record fee if you're a bad un do you.

For certain, a true legend of world football has been taken from us much too soon. RIP Johan.

I heard a fan on Talksport say...."we used to do a Cruyff turn, without knowing who he was"....guess that shows the measure of the man.

sadly I am old enough to remember the 74 world cup final. I thought that Holland were shoe in for the final they played some great stuff & had a team of household names by the end of the tournament. Couldn't believe it when they lost 2-1 To West Germany. Neeskens & Cruyff were a sight to behold.

Couldn't believe a footballer so gifted could smoke as much as he did. I guess that is why he always made the game look easy.

I heard today, he gave up smoking in 1991 and turned to lollipops!!

It's my first 40 years that'll do me in. Out all night, smoking a few cigars, drinking a little bit too much and then crawling out of bed for a game of footy.

At least I wasn't doing drugs!
