Tbh, he wouldn't have played Delph in France anyway.

Re: Fabian Delph...
Has Delph done anything to justify his being bought by City? He has totally underachieved in the relatively few appearances he has made in my opinion, he's another crock and another waste of money.

Re: Fabian Delph...
Hasn't he scored more goals than Jesus Navas from a defensive MF position and in only 3 starts??

Oh, and for £8m whilst satisfying our HG quota?
I know whose offered us more value!

Re: Fabian Delph...
I dont think you give Navas enough credit. OK he does not take on and beat his man and get in crosses as much as you would like but he does cover a lot of ground during a game and defends well and his passing and link up play is generally good unlike others in the team. He is not known for his finishing at any club he has played at but his work rate cannot be criticised.
So Delph has scored more than Navas not by much and neither have great records in that department, Delph may meet our HG requirements but as a player he has not impressed me and i would rather see him go than Navas if it came down to it, all about opinions. Oh and Navas is rarely injured and certainly not as much as Delph who seems to have spent more time on the physio's table than on the pitch since he arrived, why do you think he was only worth £8m?

Re: Fabian Delph...
to be fair, both players levels are at Europa league level as a max.
So if we want to go for champions league, we should be replacing both ideally.
The HG quota is a niggle to fulfill, but should be with younger, more exciting players if we can get them - 2nd choice keeper behind Joe would be a simple one to start with.

I get that MCM. Navas does work hard, but so does Delph when he's had a chance. Yes, Delph is injury prone, but Navas plays as a winger, yet rarely scores and his cross completion and beating of a man is as poor as I've seen from any winger in the PL.
So, we've been playing with a winger for what purpose?
How many games did you see Aguero come out to the right, collect a ball and beat not one, but two or 3 players consistently? Navas is quicker than Aguero - but wastes that speed, so it's pointless playing him if he's there just cover for the RB or pass to an overlapping RB.
Surely, we should be looking to bring in a winger that successfully crosses and scores more than 1 goal in 100+ games. That's appalling, yet we got rid of a winger to Celtic who's biggest talent is to beat defenders and get into the box and score. Maybe the system last year was all wrong, but Navas isn't good enough for me. I'm not saying Delph would walk into Pep's team - but he cost little and is HG.

Re: Fabian Delph...
How many times did we see Sagna overlap Navas, then run at defenders with the ball or put in a decent cross? When your full back is doing a better job of being a winger than your winger is, you know you've got a problem.blueboy wrote:How many games did you see Aguero come out to the right, collect a ball and beat not one, but two or 3 players consistently? I can't fault Navas for his work rate, but we need to be better than this now.

Good points made.
I'd get rid of Sterling before Navas (but it ain't gonna happen), but i can't disagree really with what's been said above.

Re: Fabian Delph...
Navas is shit Can't cross & can't score so what's the point
Delph is average but for £8m & home grown he is decent value for a back up player
