UEFA confirm they are looking into our sponsorship deal
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14490740.stm
I like the bit whereby they say:
(As well as the shirt and stadium, Etihad also sponsors The Etihad Campus which is being developed around the ground. This will create an expanded academy, sports science centre and training ground, as well as office and retail space and a 7,000-seat stadium for youth games.
All of this investment is exempt from the FFP rules as it is not deemed football-related. Any income accrued, however, does count).
This shows just how this rule is full of ambiguity.

With all the moaning the likes of Bayern are doing, they have to look in to it. The fact that the deal is water tight and seeing as the amount of investment we are making in the local community and infrastructure, they wouldn't dare question such a deal that will create jobs and investment for a deprived area. Its a unique deal that other clubs would kill to have.

Re: UEFA confirm they are looking into our sponsorship deal
This just goes to show how the FFP rules are complete bollocks.
First, Barca have to ditch free publicity for UNICEF in order to get the millions of extra Euros in from Qatar Foundation. So a charity ends up getting the shitty end of the stick so that the team can continue to qualify. And this is a team that the masses actually want to watch!!
And so we move onto us, with our "dubious" sponsorship deal which will actually create jobs, improve a rundown area with acres of brownfield wasteland and give something the inhabitants of the area can be proud to be associated with.
I say, let them look. And when they see what is happening, I doubt they'd have any choice but to let it go through. It's either that or show themselves up to being complete twats who think it's perfectly fine for football clubs to not invest in their communities.
And even if they don't like it, we should just do it anyway!
