Zidane came out & said his side was overloaded with players & doesn't have room for any more. He was talking about how good Pogba is but couldn't compete with United in terms of the silly money offered. Real do not need Sane nor will they go for him if they are overloaded with players.

I think City may have been smart here. After his father came out an claimed Real and Bayern were interested - City may have countered that with a little speculative move for Mahrez.

Basically, "OK, if they want your son, we'll go for Mahrez instead", all the while, positioning themselves into the driving seat with regards his transfer fee. Wouldn't suprise me whatsoever, if City got Sane for around the £35-38m mark now.

I can't see us paying over £40M for him, simply because Madrid and Bayern won't go anywhere near that figure.

hope we can get this deal done sooner rather than later
