I'll be following your live updates Bluey. Waste of time with my 1MBPS at the hotel. How on earth are they going to attract the business customers they want with that speed?

City v Dortmund Empty Re: City v Dortmund

Post by blueboy Thu Jul 28, 2016 12:50 pm

Not seeing anything of note that suggests:

A. Pep's passing game is working

B. The players he's picked are anywhere near good enough to implement his tactics - so why bother picking this team?

The pitch is awful....the pressing is better, but many of the players on show, just aren't good ball technicians. I guess we'll see more when the big guns and new players come on.

The broadcast is awful on SS1, so god knows what the live streams are like.

The passing is very poor Not seen any possession football so they are either not listening to Pep or more probably they are not good enough
Yaya will be on soon though !

I suspect the latter.

Just don't get why he's allowing Navas and Kolorov any more game time...both are shite and will never start....would be better to see more of Maffeo, Garcia and Angelino.

Willy's undone all of his previous good work in 45 minutes. Rolling Eyes

Kelechi looks way off the pace and Zinchenko, who was non-existent in the Euros when he came on and the last game, is equally non-existent in this game.

Very underwhelmed..even though it's only the 2nd pre-season game...we don't have enough ball playing technicians to play this passing game - at the moment.

If this is the base level in pre-season with a very weak line up then I am optimistic for the season. Yeah loose at the back and should've scored ourselves, but started to get on top towards the end.
Don't forget the pitch is shocking too and dortmund trounced the scum less than a week ago.
All in all my glass is half full.

Great ball from Yoyo....nice touch from Angelino (on for the useless Kolorov), brilliant first time one-two by A Garcia and Silva and then a nice square ball from Silva to Sergio for a tap in.....that's more like it!!

Wank, wank and further wank defending.....at the end.

Fucking awful. How can you allow a corner to be played into the box, near the byline, with nobody in 10 yards of the player?

95 mins you have to defend for!! Not 94.

Apart from that school boy error...we looked so much more in control in the 2nd half with some of the old guard back....but those kids like Maffeo and Yoyo need to switch on for 95 mins.

Apart from the goal, Maffeo and Yoyo were excellent, Angelino brings so much more than Kolorov.

TLMLF had his usual 35 minute stroll, Bony is awful....nothing new there.

Silva was good, Aguero looked sharp already.

Would have liked to have seen more of Nolito and Sterling except for 10 mins.

Still, 1-1 against a team that embarrassed the rags..... Laughing Laughing

City win 6-5 on pens.....2 saves from Gunn!!

Not sure it means anything as Dortmund get 1 point for the penalties loss and 3 points for thrashing the rags....unless our postponed game gives us 2 points??

Anyway...great to see the young lads taking pens....but wtf was that keeper doing? He was on the edge of the 6yrd box by the time some of the pens were taken!

No one gets the trophy as the postponed game put the knackers on a result. 3 points for a win 2 for a penalty shoot out win 1 for a penalty shoot out loss. As there are no points for a draw you couldn't give points for the postponed game.

But we could argue that we beat the team that hammered the rags, so it should be given that we'd have beaten the red shite as well. So the cup is ours. In theory.

Still, I'm happy that the rags lost one game and went home in a sulk. Let's hope Leicester lift the CS!

Yes, you are completely correct, but at the end of the day it's a meaningless friendly and they will have learned the value of staying awake until the final whistle in a game which bears virtually no relevance. At least it wasn't a cup final or the last game of the season when we need a win. Plus, as you said, they all had a brilliant game aside from this one blip, so food for thought for Pep too.
