LFC v City - Live Thread
First topic message reminder :
Gonna be a very tough game today. We've not done well at Anfield for years - so a draw today would be a decent result.

Re: LFC v City - Live Thread
Well....it's Jan tomorrow. IF we don't buy 2 defenders this window, we'll get everything we deserve come the end of the season.
Jesus will make a difference, but today, after 2/3 decent games from TLMLF, he just didn't show up. Neither did KDB or Aguero.
Today's game was a game that Chelsea would have ground out a 0-0 or 1-0...but once again in the first half....our defenders and keeper are simply.....FUCKING GARBAGE!

We could conceivably be 6th after Arsenal and Spuds play tomorrow. Woeful performance. Liverpool weren't that good but we were garbage.

I never want to see Kolarov kick a ball for us ever again, gave up counting after his 15th mistake.
We never get anything there but boy this is getting boring now, we all see it. Would prefer to lose with the kids that all of those defenders.

Pep is like pellegrini. Stubborn. Navas, who can't do shit, gets a run out and the kids never get a chance.
It's starts from the press and we don't really have one of any note. We're still slow to move the ball forwards and seem happy enough having possession and passing it sideways and backwards.
Happy holidays bluey!

Yeah, you too Dawg and all of those members who have contributed throughout 2016. Been an overall average 2016 for City. Some highs, some awful lows...but hey, 2017 is here in 20 mins and that means one thing....our saviour Jesus will soon be with us!! God knows we need him!
Have a great night wherever you are.

Re: LFC v City - Live Thread
Hope everyone had a good evening? Happy New Year!!
But back to the game....just watching the Sunday Supplement - and Pep's taking a bit of a verbal pasting by some of the journo's, especially John Cross of The Mirror....who's notoriously anti-City.
He claims Pep is The Emperor's New Clothes. He goes on to praise the transformation with LFC under Klopp....errrr, where did LFC finish last season under 6 months of Klopp?
They went on to say how "this is now a Klopp team".....yeah, after 12 months.
We've only had 6 months of Pep and this IS DEFINITELY NOT a Pep team.
We've all said about defenders - we've all said about playing a back 4....but a good point was made by Jonathan Norcroft on the show, who said
"Think back to the first 10 games, we were praising Pep over his selections and formations, playing 3 at the back with 2 tucked into MF. Why has that changed to a back 4?
It's as if Pep's confidence has been knocked by a couple of defeats and suddenly, he's still trying to play out from the back with a back 4, which will definitely not work, as a back 4 sit too deep to start with. Also, Claudio Bravo cannot play a sweeper-keeper with a back 4, which means he may as well have kept Joe Hart, at least he's better at commanding his box and is a better shot stopper"....
And I think he's got a point. We've all cried out for a back 4 after a few defeats....and in fact, apart from a few decent performances for 45/60 mins in a few games, we've looked like a Pellegrini-style team with a 4 at the back.
Something has changed and maybe Pep needs to be brave and say "bollocks to it, I'll play my way"....and stick to it. If that's a 3 at the back, then so be it. At least that will get us playing a higher line at the back and give Bravo and the defenders more options.
Furthermore, the likes of Kolorov, Zaba, Otamendi (to a degree) - are simply not good enough any more.
This MUST be addressed immediately if possible.
I heard one bloke on BMR TV after the game refer to Kolorov as Buggeroff.....wish he would!

Was garbage Wensdi...but we can't be 6th - as the rags are in 6th, 3 points behind us.

Happy New Year! Agree let's be positive, it can't get worse, a couple in and let's see where we end up. Top 4 will do me, this is still Peps year to mess with things. Next season we win the lot ;-)

Some good points blue and I have to say I do agree, but also when you look at the team against Liverpool it was even less of a pep team as we only had 2 of his signings as sane is injured & gundogan long term. I am beginning to think he will be a massive miss in terms of peps formation.

Pep needs to learn that when we play at grounds like Anfield against pacey teams where we need to press all over the park you can't afford to play Yaya in midfield, he would have been wiser playing Fernando.
