Manchester City Football Club announce that the Board led
review initiated on Monday of this week, as a response to allegations
made to the football club, football authorities and a national newspaper
by Dr Anthonia Onuoha, has been concluded.
As a result, the Club can confirm that there is foundation to Dr
Onuoha’s allegations and the Chairman has written to apologise to Dr
Onuoha for any distress caused.
Following the findings of the review, Chief Executive Officer
Garry Cook has offered his resignation, which has been accepted with
regret by the Board.
Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak responded to the decision, saying:
“Garry has made a remarkable contribution to Manchester City Football
Club over the past three years.
“His judgement in this matter should in no way lead to his
accomplishments being overlooked. On every level, the club is
unrecognisable from the organisation which he inherited and our staff
and supporter services, community outreach and commercial activity have
seen unparalleled growth under his direction with yet more projects to
be realised on the horizon.
“On behalf of Sheikh Mansour and the Board, I would like to thank
him for his energy and tireless commitment to serving all those
connected with the football club. He will always be welcome at
Manchester City.”
Garry Cook said: “I am privileged to have held my position at
Manchester City Football Club and to have experienced the opportunities
that it has presented. The privilege is in part offset however by the
significant personal focus which has at times, detracted from the
magnificent achievements of those working at the football club.
“It is that factor, together with my error of judgement in this
matter that has prompted me to reach this decision, which I believe is
in the best interests of the football club.
“I wish Roberto and his team and all of the fans and supportive
partners of the Club the very best for exciting times ahead. I would
also like to put on record my unreserved thanks to Sheikh Mansour,
Khaldoon Al Mubarak and the Board and all of the very talented staff at
the Club for their support throughout my tenure at Manchester City. I
know the Club will go from strength to strength.”
Whilst the Board commences a search for a new Chief Executive
Officer, Director John MacBeath will fulfil the role of temporary CEO,
working closely with the Board.

Re: Cookie resigns
Inevitable that he would go if proved it was him, what a ridiculous way to lose a job that he was very good. what a fucking idiot. Its a loss to us, but i would imagine he will now work as an advisor to the chairman.

That Kia Jizbum fella is behind a lot of this.
Cookie will point to his not inconsiderable business achievements during his tenure, rather than his loose gob, and get another well paid job so no tears for him.
The Board will get their own man I suspect from the legion of business talent that would want the job - anybody want to work leading a fabulous project with a fabulous salary?.
The new CEO should be more invisible and let the team and RM do the talking.

Re: Cookie resigns
Yes he fucked up and probably had to go, but ...
why did it take 11 month's and two transfer windows in which Dr Onouha couldn't engineer a move for Ned or get a new contract, for the whole thing to come out?

Re: Cookie resigns
The attempt to recruit Kaka involved Kia Joorabchian, an unlicensed
football agent who was to take a vindictive role in Cook's departure
from City. At first trusted by Cook to be central to much of the club's
transfer activities, Joorabchian turned into a persona non grata as he
attempted to maximise the financial gain from his key client, the
striker Carlos Tevez.
By this summer's transfer window, City were reporting Dr Onuoha to the
Football Association for mandating Joorabchian to negotiate her son's
exit from the club, but deadline day passed without either a transfer or
a loan being agreed.
Senior figures at City hold Joorabchian responsible for those deals
falling through. Though the Anglo-Iranian has denied any involvement,
they also believe Joorabchian was involved in the leaking of the ugly
email that ultimately led to Cook's resignation.

Re: Cookie resigns
didn't know it was one of his. if it is, i echo the comment.
i said last year that i would like the club to sue papers that printed lies. the club decided to go to bed with the media rather than put the lying buggers to bed.
they should also stop all these fucking stories coming out of the club regarding transfer targets, rows, fights, salary info etc.

Re: Cookie resigns
Can't blame his mother for doing what any mother would do - Look after their son BUT unfortunately Ned will be the one who ultimately suffers in all this.
Cookie cock that he was, will get another BIG job I'm sure, the snake Kia will just snivel up to some other poor sod, whilst Ned will probably be left to rot in the reserves

I just meant PPLF regularly describes people as the proverbial "lady garden"..
not so much a catchphrase but a regular saying.
