What makes a bad referee

What makes a bad referee
Is it lack of consistency? Because do we want refs to alow the game to flow and play advantage ALL the time or do we want then to blow the whistle for every foul and be consistent.
Is it missing a blatent dive? or is this the fault of the player conning the ref. Or missing a penalty because a player has a certain reputation.
Do we listen too much to Experts and if they were experts on the off side rule how come they were caught off side so may times in their careeres?

Re: What makes a bad referee
Hi Lee.
I think a bad ref is a Ref you actually notice and discuss things that happend during the game, as I believe they should be seen and not heard.
A Ref who lets things flow is good in my book (obviously for the harsher moments they must stamp down) and those who stop and start the flow are worse refs for it.
To be swayed by a players rep is wrong and to buckle under media scrutiny is also a wimp out.

Re: What makes a bad referee
Too many refs do tend to punish players with a bad rep (Balotelli) for the slightest thing and let players with a media driven rep (Rooney) get away with murder. Sometimes its as though they can't wait to pull out a card for certain players.

Boy yep its a sad state of affairs when shit like that happens, as its obvious to everyone!
Re: What makes a bad referee
Free flowing for me. I'd rather all the small niggly type fouls were just ignored 1/2 the time. Players go down if they get coughed on these days & the ref who falls for it & blows every 5 seconds just completely ruins the game

Thats what I said Tony.
Stop start, stuttering reffing is annoying to the max.

Don't think Balotelli can have too many complaints so far

What i'm saying about the likes of Balotelli, is that refs know all about them and slam down on them harder than they would any normal player. I have seen him get booked a couple of times for really minor things, that would usually get overlooked. Whereas someone like Rooney can f and blind it to the ref constantly and get away with it because he is a prominent England player and a media darling. Double standards and inconsistancy.

Re: What makes a bad referee
I was expecting de Jong to be targeted after the Ben arfa tackle but he seems to have been left alone but the pathetic weak refereeing in the cases of Gary Neville this season highlight the problem

PPLF, i'm not suggesting anything sinister, but being a prominent senior England international, or a senior member of certain high profile teams, seems to give you free range to do what you want.
Now their a bunch of c#nts.

Re: What makes a bad referee
It's always been like that though hasn't it?
Shearers elbows were legendary for instance, terry gets away with murder as does gerrard
Doesn't make it right but bigger personalities will always get a bit more leeway
Against arsenal at home Boyata was easy for a ref to send off,but would terry or Ferdinand have gone?Think not
