What makes a bad referee
Is it lack of consistency? Because do we want refs to alow the game to flow and play advantage ALL the time or do we want then to blow the whistle for every foul and be consistent.
Is it missing a blatent dive? or is this the fault of the player conning the ref. Or missing a penalty because a player has a certain reputation.
Do we listen too much to Experts and if they were experts on the off side rule how come they were caught off side so may times in their careeres?

Re: What makes a bad referee
Hi Lee.
Interesting points, I have had a good think about this in the past, mainly with my United mates and family Reds.
It may be that a Ref who is slightly swayed by the media and pressure from the so called Bigger Clubs, could be a quality Ref yet their ability to buckle under the weight of the media stops them from being 100% honest in their reffing.
I think a bad Ref is a Ref that consistantly stops the game for niggles, little moments of passion, borderline offsides, as I would always expect to watch a game of footy, and not even remember the Ref or his name or how he did during the game, as I see it as if you don't notice them they must be doing a decent job.
Its a hard game to be in as a Ref I admit, but being influenced by player and manager reps is undefendable.
