Isolation Remedy Empty Isolation Remedy

Post by titbumwilly Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:43 pm

So, just over 11 weeks to go (minimum!), and I really will go round the bend if I have to suffer normal tv fare for that long.
So, I was wondering if anyone can recommend any book or (unknown) classic film on Netflix or Amazon?
Never been a fan of so-called classic films, so never seen the likes of Wizard of Oz, Matrix series, Lord of the Rings etc.
My recommendations would include: Lost In Translation, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Elizabeth Town, Quadrophenia (naturally), Party Party (probably on YouTube), Shag, On The Waterfront.....
Absolute Beginners (book, not film), All The Tea In China (Kyril Bonfiglioli), Starter For Ten (David Nicholls), Bedsit Disco Queen (Tracey Thorn), High Fidelity ( Nick Hornby), Jane Eyre or any of the David Niven biographies.
Any suggestions welcome

From the 90s, Leaving Las Vegas was a fantastic film. If you don’t mind subtitles, track down a French film from 2011 called Untouchable. And more recently, Joker was surprisingly good, don’t be put off by the Batman connections, it’s more akin to Taxi Driver than Batman. A good read is Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks.

The Haunting of Hill House
The Society

All worth a watch mate.

Plenty to be getting on with there.
Seen/read a couple of those suggestions.
Cheers.

Or you could always read my first novel released in 2016 (paperback or ebook). Plenty of hidden MCFC references in the text. See how many you can spot, including the one about Bobby Johnstone.

My own remedy is trying to write the sequel.

So, are there enough City references for your book to qualify for a place amongst my City book collection?

Wasn't the French film The Intouchables?

Yep, there sure is. You should be able to check out the entire 1969 FA cup winners team, if you manage to spot them.

You'll find it under a variety of similar names Ray. I have the English blu-ray called Untouchable but the original French title is Intouchables.

Well, just finished your book (it didn’t last more than a day), and absolutely loved it. The City references made me smile, my favourite was Tony Book!
I love it when I find a book that’s different in style to what I normally go for.
I shall be writing a review on Amazon today.
Can you let me know your progress on your next novel please?
Thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you for your kind words. If you could pass on your own recommendation to any other readers you know, I'd be grateful. 'Ain't got the mega-buck promotion some others have.

The first one took me four years in all. 100,000 words - it's a lot. I'm trying to make Christmas the target for the sequel, but it's a long haul.

Did you spot Sergio's goal as a police file number? Very Happy

Can highly recommend the Amazon series Bosch.   Based on the Michael Connelly books about a gritty LA Detective.

Latest series lands today and will be my binge for the weekend.   This is season 6 so you can start from the beginning.
