Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
Right, really pissed off with this....not one PL player in the Ballon D'Or team of the Year???
This is their team:
............................Manuel Neuer............................
Dani Alves ..Thiago Silva...Sergio Ramos...Philipp Lahm
Andres Iniesta...Xavi..Franck Ribery..Cristiano Ronaldo
...........Zlatan Ibrahimovic...Lionel Messi .................
Can we come up with a PL team to compete with this team on form so far?
...................................Cech......................................
....Zaba...............Kompany............Luiz..............Shaw......
Silva.................Yaya...............Ramsey.........Hazard........
......................Aguero.................Suarez..........................
I personally think Kompany is better than T Silva.
Suarez and Aguero are better than Ibrahimovich.
I'd rather have Silva than Ribery any day of the week.
I'd even take Zaba over Alves.
I'd have Cech or even Hart over Neuer.
I know some are injured...but choose on what you've seen so far.
Maybe I'm wrong, but what do you guys think?

Re: Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
Is it the team of the year up to now or from last season ?
Cos if it was last season none of our players with the exception maybe of Zabba had a great season, Ramsey was injured and none of the others u mention were outstanding

Re: Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
Of course....they vote on the last 12 months...so I can understand certain players not being in the team....my main point of the post was to show, the PL has players that can certainly match some of their 'chosen' 11...but regardless of this season....there will hardly be any PL players in the FIFA team of the year in 2015....Platini hates the PL.
My point was to match a team against what they have voted for....on current form.

Re: Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
This is a ridiculous event year after year, as it is only in place to boost the egos of certain European countries. It has never considered English based players, and nor will it in future.
It's sole purpose is to carry on upholding the outdated idea that Spanish, Italian, German (and now even, ye gods, French) football is of a superior breed than the premiership.
Ignore it and let the likes of Platini and Blatter carry on deluding themselves.
Ridiculous event for ridiculous people.

Tbh, does it really surprise you?
Totally agree with tbw on this.
If the PL and Bundesliga were the only 2 remaining Leagues left on the planet, they'd still pick 11 players from the Bundesliga......evn if Messi had joined City and scored 50 goals that season.
If Dani Alves gets in the team, then it's not worth the recognition.....even Glen Johnson's better than him

Re: Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
I agree. Let's get back to that point we were at in the 70s and 80s when we were cleaning up in Europe on a regular basis. UEFA must've been so pleased back then with the Scousers, gave them a the opportunity to ban us all, even though Italian fans have gone on to perform far worse violent acts over the years in the name of football without so much as a whisper.titbumwilly wrote:This is a ridiculous event year after year, as it is only in place to boost the egos of certain European countries. Re: Ballon D'or Team of the Year vs a PL Team of the Year
Looks to me like a massive win for marketing.
Maybe if Little Joe had been given a bigger role in marketing FIFA 14 instead of washing his hair, he'd have been a better shout than Neuer.

Looks like Rubbery came pretty close to winning it really, with little Messi nowhere to be seen.....very strange.
Ronaldo not picking Messi in his top 3 and likewise Messi not picking Ronaldo in his top 3 made me laugh....what a surprise.

Like I said, a triumph of marketing. Ronaldo wouldn't have a clue otherwise, the only footballer he's interested in looking at is himself.blueboy wrote:Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal

It may just as well be the Eurovision song contest for all the bollocks that the players come up with.

Exactly. The Ballon D'Or and the FIFA world team are pointless diversions, just like the Eurovision song contest.titbumwilly wrote:It's meaningless, move on.

Oh, thought of another one: Ashley Young - Fallon D'Flor
