2011/12 Captain?

Right, on the off chance Carlos stays (which is a story in its own regard) should he retain the captaincy?

In my view this should be decided on the manner of his decision to stay, and how convincing it is. It would have to be an Academy Award winning performance for me to not give it to VK!

TBH I'd give it to Carlos because it probably means more to him than it does to VK.
Kompany grew up on the continent were the captains armband doesnt mean as much as it does in the English game, Their are reports that the oldest player is given the armband simply out of respect for age etc. Probably thats why the current english manager didnt see the problem with Ferdinand and Terry both seeing their respective arses over it

It should be Vinny for me but I think if Tevez stays and the armband is taken off him by Mancini then Tevez would only have another reason for wanting to bugger off. Best if he stays that he's retained as captain I think.

Sorry if it upsets Carlos, but we shouldn't pander to him. No matter how good he is, no player should be bigger than the team.

If Tevez does stay I'm sure the captaincy will be part of what keeps him here

Its a real shame, You get the impression VK would kill for the honour, as would NDJ. It just stings that the wrong guy has it simply through ability and tempremental issues.

Bluejay remember carlos does have the same work ethic as VK, NDJ and that he's always the first to the ref to argue a players case (indeed he's been booked for it a few times).
This whole language thing I think is just a smoke screen to avoid talking to the press in this country. Works as well.

The only person who can speak to the referee now following an incident is the player involved and the captain. What's the point of having a captain who's made little effort to learn English?

VK is captain in all but name and he should be given the armband unless it really was the crucial issue over whether Tevez stays or goes.

Definitely VK, he wants to win things, and more importantly, he wants to win things with us. He's a very clever bloke Kompany, remember reading an interview with him saying he can speak three different languages, tie him to the club and that's a strong foundation for whatever we build. Tevez is too tempremental, no captain should come out mid season and say they want to leave, and we shouldn't have to stand on egg shells around him and let him have his bottle just so he stays. I see Kompany as the future of our club not Tevez.
