Apparently, that's what we're trying to convince him to do before the MLS season starts next March. With the Fernando deal supposedly complete, i personally think it's a great idea and a win/win all round. He'll be able to keep his fitness up, provide cover (especially in cup games) and help with our English quota within the squad.

I don't think I was alone in suspecting that this might happen. And he doesn't even have to start against Chelsea either, just against everyone else.

He probably wouldn't start against Chelsea anyway.

I read somewhere that neither Villa or Lampard would play for us before going to America. It's not such a bad idea to have him in the squad as cover just in case. Villa wouldn't be in the squad unless we let Negredo go.
