Champions League draw

Not long now until we get to hear about who we're up against in this year's CL.  We're up into the dizzy heights of pot 2 this year, so the odds of us getting a tough group are less likely.  Except perhaps not, because our draw could well be this:

- Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barca
- Ajax
- Roma

We've not had Barca in the group stages yet, so we may well get them this time around.  I fancy us to beat every team in pot 4, but Roma are the strongest in there.  I'd expect us to beat pretty much every team in pot 3 too, but given how crap we were against Ajax last time, I reckon we'll get them instead.

Of course, we could be lucky and get this:

- Benfica or Porto
- Galatasaray, Olympiacos or Athletic Bilbao
- Apoel, Bate, Maribor or Ludo Razgrad

But I doubt it!

A problem Utd would love to have......

It still baffles me how a team who has to play qualifying games still gets seeded in Pot 1.

Exactly Shaken but I've given up trying to second guess Uefa/Fifa.  I'm just glad there wasn't some way you hold onto your coefficient after not qualifying and we found ourselves below the dippers.

We got a good draw last year, so law of averages says it shouldn't happen again, but I've got my lucky underpants on 

Anyway will be a fun drive back up the M6 tonight, It's quite exciting listening to it live on Talkshite.

I don't fear any of them....bring it on. They'll all be writing us off....but this season, with our squad...they'll all be fearing us.

Yeah, so I think we could all have called this: Bayern, CSKA and Roma. I watched the guy choosing the groups out of the pot and, for pot 4, he was touching each ball before choosing. The bowl with the E balls was definitely warmed up. Fucking cheating UEFA bastards.

Chelsea have a piss easy group again: Schalke, Sporting and Maribor

So do Arsenal: Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht

And Liverpool have Madrid, but also Basel and Ludogorets. Again, they should be able to get through that group.

We should get through our group, but I still don't understand why we could only go in group E when there were two groups in the top half available that looked like options - especially since Loserpool got into that half. Rigged to fuck...

And Bayern for the third time in four years. I smell a UEFA sized rat.

Personally I don't give a flying one.
We'll beat anyone that's put in front of us. I guarantee that those other three teams will be more worried than we are.
You could give The Chokers three conference teams and they'd still blow it.
Bring on anyone you like, we will win it this season - we have the best squad and the best manager.
I know Pellers will not be in the least phased by that draw.

Enough guys......jesus, we've got a stronger squad than anyone apart from Real or Barca.....it's time for us to step up. We keep going on about this world class squad we're compiling, well we've now got it. So no excuses, no moaning about groups being fixed.

Bayern, we beat with an inferior team.

Roma - we should beat them easily.

CSKA won't be a problem - the only issue is a long flight and who we have next in the PL....but that's why we've got a strong squad.

We really can't keep saying 'group of death'....what do Bayern fans think tonight after we beat them away, being drawn against us with a much better squad, Roma and CSKA? Do you think they'll be moaning about 'rigged' draws, being drawn against us? Nope....they'll be saying "bring it on"....and that's what we should be doing.

If we want to win the CL or get through to the latter stages...we have to beat better teams than the 3 we've been drawn against.

Come on......let's be positive!!

I would have preferred some weaker teams in there but I guess we always do things the hard way!

It's not about the group, mate, it's the overarching consequences of it that concern me. Like last season, our CL games are mixed in with key fixtures and we're going to be on the back foot because, if we want success in both, we have to field our best instead of picking the kids.

We have Bayern away between the Arsenal and Chelsea fixtures. We have the CSKA fixtures immediately after Spurs and the rags (although they won't be a problem) and we play the last game against Roma after a tricky fixture with Everton. In the meantime, Chelsea have a group they will qualify out of comfortably, which means their league games will be less impacted by having the first team play twice in a week.

I dare say we'll get out of the group, but I can see us dropping vital league points to do it, where Chelsea and Arsenal won't. And that's the issue I have.

If we didn't have CL football, then that's the time to moan. We have a squad that can hopefully cope with a few big games one after the other....bring it on i say.
