Champions League Draw
We have been placed in the 3rd pot, meaning we could end up in the group of death with Barca, Milan, Dortmund...............
Seems strange that we qualified above Arsenal, yet are seeded lower, looks like we might have to do it the hard way then!!

Re: Champions League Draw
We're bound to get Barca, but i suppose it'll be tough whoever we get. I am quite excited now, wish it did'nt take them 2 hours to draw the thing though.

Re: Champions League Draw
I'm actually genuinely not that arsed about who we get. The better the team, the better we will play. Fucking hell, never thought i'd say that about us.

Re: Champions League Draw
I know what you meen Daz, but i dont want us having any long trips to Russia, Ukraine etc, i'd much prefer as short as possible journeys.

Re: Champions League Draw
Yeah Si, we could do without those long flights. Quite fancy a trip to Barcelona or Madrid, any of you going to any aways? Depending on where we end up, i'm planning on going on a couple.

Re: Champions League Draw
Depends where we play as you say mate, the long journeys dont appeal much, but if i can do it then i will, planning will no doubt start when we get fixed dates.

Re: Champions League Draw
Si, been on a few Sportoptions ones run by a lad called Spike. Great trips. Top flights and we usually stay one night in a 5* city centre hotel, all with coach travel from the airport. Have a look at their website when the dates are out, they do fly in fly out trips aswell if you don't fancy staying over.

Re: Champions League Draw
There's the obvious group of death - and several others it may be better to avoid until the knockout stages. Looking on a possible bright side, what would be the best draw? II think my "easiest" group would be:
Porto
Villareal
Us
Genk
They'd all be relatively short Journeys too !

Re: Champions League Draw
Fly in and out would suit me better, less cost, and the less time off work the better. I try to save my holidays for these occasions though so it could work out. Not had the chance to do the foreign trips with city, baring the odd pre-season game. I'll check that site out, it sounds quality, cheers Daz.

Re: Champions League Draw
this will probally be a long winded drawn out boring affair which will take about two hours to sort out.
Just draw the fucking balls out sharpish then get back to your free 12 course slap up meal with champers. Then later on take your "escorts" back to a free Five star hotel & work all that caviar & chips off.
Thats how it works init.

Re: Champions League Draw
We're in pot 3 because we've never been in the CL before, but we did have a brief stint in the European Cup, we won the European Cup Winners' Cup and been in the same a few times. I'd have been surprised if we'd been any higher, and especially since pot 1 tends to be reserved for the G14 types.Bewar3them00n wrote:Seems strange that we qualified above Arsenal, yet are seeded lower, looks like we might have to do it the hard way then!!
So is it true we can't get drawn against a team from the same country? It would've been fun to boot Arsenal out at the group stages!

Looks like we're in group A with Bayern and Villareal
And Napoli. Bugger, was hoping for an easy game. Still, at least it's all close by for the away games!

Re: Champions League Draw
Could have been worse, some tough games in that lot but nothing we should be scared of. Boateng returns, Bayern ar'nt the force they once were, Napoli we should know quite well after last years games, and Villareal should'nt be too tough.
They should just give the rags a bye

Sky sports pundits have discussed City's group before going on to discuss the rags. Says it all about the future really. Wonderful.

Re: Champions League Draw
No easy games for us but something is wrong with the draw, we had 50% chance of playing barca which would have made it tough for them but we didnt and the rags group is a joke! Arsenals group is not straight forward either.

Was Howard Webb involved in the draw?

Re: Champions League Draw
I think City really have got a tough draw but what a draw eh lads and lasses. Apart from the Barca, AC group this is without doubt the hardest.
Some great European nights to look forward to at the COMS me thinks, i'll even try and go myself i think.

Re: Champions League Draw
I was shitting myself as it came down to us or Bate to be in the pot with AC Milan & Barca.I let out a large shout of joy (at work) when we got in the group with Munich & Villareal
Only to find out later we couldn't go in the pot with Barca anyway
It was exciting for me anyway
Not a bad group. Pretty confident that we will get through

Re: Champions League Draw
Don't know wether to be happy or sad with that draw. As Serie A and La Liga haven't even started yet it's a bit hard to judge the opposition.
Villarreal seems about the easiest match to go to as there's a choice of airports.
Bayern Munich would be good for a daytrip as hotel rooms would be at a premium because of Oktoberfest.
I wouldn't go to any Italian city to watch a football match unless it was a final.

Re: Champions League Draw
Well the draw leaves me quietly confident. It will be interesting to see Boateng play after his departing comments. Sadly unless i win lotto no games for me!!!!
On Monday just gone i went to the perth city supporters club to see the guest speaker. None other than Peter Barnes had a top night.

I can't figure out why UEFA didn't just say "We've given the rags a bye into the knockout stages"

Re: Champions League Draw
No, Newtface, but isn't it odd that you got the group with the weakest of Pot 2 and two newbies?
And I notice group G is basically a load of noddy groups. Is this where United's last 16 game will get picked from, I wonder
