Is It Just Quiet
on here because its summer time (well it is over here) and there's no footy and we are not actively involved in new signings? Or is everyone on their hols? It's quiet on JA606 too.
Anybody read any really good footy/City-related books - other than the Trautmann book and Once in a BlueMoon?

I prefer a James Paterson or Jeffrey deaver to football books.I've read the cloughy one fairly recently but I'd rather sit down with a thriller

Re: Is It Just Quiet
Don't get much time to read books these days, unless it's the Gruffalo!!!! my little boy takes all my spare time up, I've got about 5 books piled up by the side of the bed, begging to be read,
Game of Thrones, a mighty tome which I'll take on holiday
a Mark. E. Smith bio which I've read half of, and is quite funny
a massive book on movies which has 1000 film reviews in
a book on P.I.L ( John Lydon's band)
and a few others that have been left for too long unattended, I've forgotten what they are!

PPLF - I love thrillers too - but having just read about 20 on the trot - got into "once in a Bluemoon" whilst away on hols and it was so funny - that I thought I'd ask if there were any more you guys had read.
Try "Three Seconds" by Roslund & Hellstrom - gripper.

The Gruffalo is modern day classic. I've still got Blue Moon Rising dvd in its packaging in the cupboard from xmas, maybe i'll get to see it one day.
Cuddles, have you tried Blue Blood by Mike Doyle, i got about half way through a couple of years back and it was quite good.

It will all change soon enough topdawg.
When they become teenagers they lock themselves away in their bedrooms, only surfacing to be fed and speak in a guttural grunt while walking round with their arses hanging out of their strides with a miserable look on their face as if the world is your fault.
I know I was never like that,I was never in the house as a teenager, always out fishing,on my bike etc
Playstation and facebook have a lot to answer for.

Re: Is It Just Quiet
I don't have any problem with playstation etc because I used to play quite a bit but I also managed to fit in playing footy twice a week and regular workouts at the gym and a bit of squash, badminton and tennis as well as plenty of clubbing.
I was in my late 20s mind you, but the age is irrespective. You can fit plenty in your life if you don't focus on just one thing.
My kids are just 2 and 3 yrs old so i have that teenage pleasure awaiting me. No way will my kids have their arses hanging out of their pants.
I saw one dickhead on a motorbike the other day and he might as well not have bothered wearing any trousers!

Re: Is It Just Quiet
Hols for me Wensdi, just back from walking the dogs on watergate bay last week.... hell of a walk from Manchester to Newquay
I just think that with no football being played that its hard to get enthusiastic about media gossip. I publish the club gossip on here and ja606 just so people who cant access the web site at work can keep up to date but even the City media column is very tongue in cynical cheek.

Re: Is It Just Quiet
Hope you had a good 'un Lee - I will be in lovely Torquay (and Brixham) for a few days in early July and then Hereford/Manchester.
Tubbs - thanks for the tip - I'll have a look in the book shops when I'm over there.

Re: Is It Just Quiet
I was bought 'Life, Love and Manchester City' by Simon Worthington for christmas.
I tend to read King/Koontz/Crichton but could recommend Karen Rose to you Wensdi.

Thanks Emjay. Worthington must a popular name for authors of City books as Steve Worthington wrote 'Once in a Bluemoon'. I'll check yours out when I'm over.
