Re: No big loss....
Having to rely solely on Jovetic as our only back up striker (who i don't rate), has proved what bad management it was not replacing Negredo.
If anything happens to Serge in the next few weeks we really are fooked.

Re: No big loss....
No, but it does mean we're now utterly reliant on Sergio. Jovetic hasn't been overly impressive in recent games and we have, ooh, nobody else who can play up front. Who let that happen??
I'm getting a distinct feeling of Chelsea-Vu. They had two strikers last season and I seem to recall they finished in a very poor third place, after getting beaten by teams they'd normally thrash. This season they bought strikers and now there's no stopping them. So didn't any of the top brass consider that we perhaps shouldn't reduce our striking options, on the basis that Jovetic was unproven, Dzeko is a pale shadow of the player that was at Wolfsburg and Sergio could well see a resurgence of his injury? Madness!
Why let Nedge go, just because we're short of CL spaces? He could still have played in the PL. It's not like Nedge is missing out, we'll be out before he's scored for Valencia anyway.
Sorry for the rant, I just find this whole situation unbelievable.

Maybe a stroke of fortune coming up for an EDS player?

Here's hoping the likes of Pozo or Huwala get's recalled and gets a chance....both can't be as shite as Dzeko!!

Well, yes we have, Bluey. But at least we could rest him and pretend we've got an attack. Now we can't.

Re: No big loss....
Negredo has played bout 30 mins off football for Valencia so far so he would have made no difference to us. Considering he is 29 and was pretty shite for the last 4 months of last season we probably did well to get shot & for such a large fee. Not that it appears we had much choice due to UEFAs wanky FFP farce
The main problem is that whereas Dzeko scored in just about all of our games at the end of last season he has not scored for the last 8 games & has been utterly hopeless to boot & every time Jovetic looks like he mite be of some use he gets injured again. We definitely have to buy a striker in January Cavani would be ideal but unlikely so we are gonna have to try & find a bargain somewhere or trust one of the youngsters to do a job until the summer

Re: No big loss....
Maybe a short term signing that will help until the summer, or a loan may be the only thing we'll see, so sort of rules out the top players possibly still in the CL.
The only 2 possibilities for any long-term plan in Jan and to assist with FFP and English players, will be Rodriguez and Berahino.
That's if their Managers would ever consider selling - but to be fair, Saints have done really well without him, so maybe that'd be an option for £15-20m....Berahino would be useful, but probably a bit too similar to Aguero and WBA would be very reluctant to sell him, even for £25m.....so Jay Rodriguez may be a possibility and worth a punt - he can't possibly be a shite as Dzeko, or get injured as much as Jovetic....surely!

Charlie Austin.. he had a pretty good first 45 against us.
I'd just go from the EDS...
