Possibly....he'd have to get rid of Jovetic or Dzeko though.

Re: Bony has signed
I think the fact that Dzeko has scored goals and Jovetic seems to have plenty of dribbling skill, but can't shoot for shit, it'd be Jovetic.
We'd then have 3 target men and Sergio....Bony is good on the ball and Rodriguez seems to be adept with the ball at his feet - and he's English, which is always a bonus. Problem is - he's been out for a long, long time. Would it be a gamble until knowing whether he will be the same player again? I think it might be...it was a very bad injury.

174 shots in 43 PL starts? That's impressive - almost 50% on target. 25 goals in 43 games....so is that.

Rodriguez could be bought and loaned out or slowly integrated. He could be included in the pl squad as HG can't he? Maybe the cl squad too?

Re: Bony has signed
I hope so. He was the one player I thought could cause us trouble last season and to see him collapse like he did was very sad. I think he'd have been a godsend in the WC.Topdawg wrote:Get in!!!!
Rodriguez next???
But yeah, on the basis he's still not right, we should get him for next to nothing.
And I'd offload Jovetic, purely because even a disenchanted Dzeko can still pop the odd goal in.

I can't see Southampton letting Rodriguez go on the cheap. I'd be happy to take a risk around £15M

Still cheaper than the gamble we took on Crocky Santa Cruz or Crock Rodwell or Stevan Hobbletic... I'd be happy enough with that, if we got him fit.

I was trying to remember who had that number last, wasn't it Garcia? Doesn't sound like a promising start...

Kiki Musampa had that number 14 too. I'll have a look for a list of who else...

Re: Bony has signed
I think he's gonna be brilliant for us and could be an absolute bargain at £25m. Him in the box and Sergio playing just behind him with Nasri and Silva pulling the strings....I think it'll back to goals galore again like last year.

Re: Bony has signed
OK...........so Bony has signed. Great news. But will it be for some?
I've now got a bad feeling that Milner may go now Bony has signed.
If we look at the potential formations, assuming that Bony WILL play with Aguero, otherwise, why sign and hardly play him?
The current formation of having 2 holding MF's will have to change somewhere down the line to accommodate our best players. We can't play TLF/Fernando/Fernandinho and still accommodate Nasri, Milner, Silva...or Navas/Milner if Bony plays with Sergio. So possibilities may be:
..................................Hart...................................
Zaba..................Vinny............Manga.............Clichy
....................................TLF..................................
Navas.............................Silva....................Nasri....
.............................................Sergio....................
.............................Bony.......................................
In that formation, Navas can cover back and we all know Bony works his socks off tracking back and for corners/set-pieces, but the idea of TLF as a holding MF???
..................................Hart...................................
Zaba..................Vinny............Manga.............Clichy
.....................TLF.............Fernandinho...................
Silva............................................................Nasri
................Sergio....................Bony.........................
No real width for crosses for Bony, but a little more solid.
.................................Hart...................................
Zaba..................Vinny............Manga.............Clichy
Milner..........................TLF.............................Nasri
..................................Silva..................................
...................Bony........................Aguero................
A little bit defensive but also attacking.
See....I think we have a dilemma. IF we want Milner to sign a new contract, then we lose Navas/Nasri/Fernandinho or Fernando out of the team if we play with 2 up front, or both of them any way.
Thoughts?

Re: Bony has signed
I like the 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 formation as it solidifies our DMs. If a team can't score against us, we don't lose. We have enough attacking ability with our top 4 to score the goals to win games.

Re: Bony has signed
Ignoring the back 5 and top 2 (Aguero and Bony), we only have 4 spaces left. One has to be Yaya and another has to be Silva. We have to have a DM (either Fernando or Fernandinho) so we have one spot available to share between Navas, Milner, Nasri, Jovetic

So sell Navas or Jovetic. Simples!

How about this:

Nasri.............................TLF....................Silva....

Re: Bony has signed
Goes back to 1 in a DMF role....and I can't see Silva tracking back much like Navas does. Nasri tries, though not great at it.
TBF...watch Bony's games for Swansea, he tracks all the way back...so maybe he could do that role.

Re: Bony has signed
You can't have Bony as a front man and expect him to do the jobs of Nasri/Silva in tracking back.
