City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
90 mins to KO.
Should be an interesting game. Delph looks set to start today. Be interesting to see who he plays up front.
I'll plump for:
.......................................Hart........................................
Sagna................Vinny...................Mangala............Clichy..
..........Fofana....................TLMLF.................Delph........
......................Sterling......................Silva....................
.......................................Dzeko..................................

Just got a feeling for some reason, he'll play Dzeko today, just to get him in the shop window.
Is Bony with the squad? If so, then maybe Bony for Dzeko.

For me, I'd stick with Kelechi, but I've just got a sneaky feeling that after giving him plenty of game time against Melbourne, he may be looking at another player - and lets face it, there's only the two muppets to choose from.

That's got to be, pretty much Real Madrid's strongest line-up.
This could be messy by half time until some of our 1st team players get on the pitch.

Not sure on Sterling's pen, but the keeper took out Yaya. That should be a pen.

Denayer has ball watched all game. For the first and then allowing Bale a free header.
TLMLF is back to his usual form.
Silva has done nothing.
Delph off injured.
It's literally men v boys.
Not sure what MP's thinking is to play a 16yr old at CB with a 4th choice CB? Humphreys will never play next season.
It's as if he was scared of losing with a strong team.

Pepe just scored. Might be too late to rescue this with first teamers in the second half now we're three down
I know we need to blood youngsters, but a baptism of fire seems a bit harsh.

i'm not as negative as you blue, but they are far better than us when they attack.

this is the highest level and, hopefully, our CBs will learn loads from this.

Come on Dawg...we've been awful in defence.
The 2 CB's will learn nothing from not doing the basics.

Okay, so only a two goal deficit going into the second half. Could be recoverable. Hopefully Benitez will underestimate us and take off half his strikeforce!
Delph's injury was a disappointment.

Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
We can only hope we get some 1st team players on IF, the manager is interesting in winning it.
I know it's pre season, but winning and performing well breeds the same mentality. Errors and poor performances does nothing to prepare you for the start of the season.
I'm all for giving the kids a chance, but we've pretty much done that already.
We've raved about Denayer, but on that showing, he's been as poor as Kolorov is at defending.
Harsh? Probably as they are playing Madrid. But the basics haven't been there. That's a worry.

But looking at the text for the match, it looks like Nasri is well up for it again. If he has another season like 13/14, we could be very potent up front.

And how can the ref give that as a penalty, but not the common assault on TLMLF?

Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
Maybe that's why he gave it, Bluey, because he fucked up.
Apparently we've had 52% possession. So the usual situation of "all the ball, but no penetration"

You can hardly get stiffer opposition that these kids are facing. They've still got time to improve. If they looked the bees knees in this match then they'd be world beaters. Already. At 16 and 20.

I agree Dawg, but that would never happen.
Anyway, I'm not being nasty to them, I'm just pointing out the gulf in class and how making simple basics errors, that at this stage, they can't make, costs you against any half decent team.
If Madrid go on and score another 4/5, which they could easily do, how do you think Denayer and Humphrey's will take it? Not well, I guarantee you.

Exactly, but leaving them to the mercy of Madrid's front line is suicidal for their careers, surely?Topdawg wrote:You can hardly get stiffer opposition that these kids are facing. Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
Look, if they hold Madrid to 1 more or no more, they would have done OK. But I just don't get why the likes of Humphrey's is playing ahead of Mangala. We're close to the start of the season. These games will bring on our first teamers far more than the kids who won't be in the squad for next season. It's odd thinking and a little defeatist for me.

Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
I'd hope the same, mate, but I think once you're being shown up, it stops being fun or a challenge and just becomes hugely frustrating. Still, Denayer is doing some things well, so perhaps it's not getting the better of him yet.Topdawg wrote:i'd hope they would relish it, no matter how hard it is for them.

Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
Sagna it nothing short of shit.
Kolorov and Clichy weren't covered in glory and if we go into the season with them 2 again, we're fucked.
Dzeko was Dzeko - done fuck all as usual. The quicker he fucks off the better.
Not sure we learnt anything from that match - turned out to be a complete waste of time with who the manager picked.

Re: City vs Real Madrid - Live Thread
Blueboy I have been saying this for the pas 3 years. Isco is top class and natural Silva replacemwnt.
As for the game. As Joe Hart put it we did not get anytjing out of this game.
Young defenders made basic mistakes and we hust got rwminded how shit Kolarov, Clichy, Sangna, Navas and Dzeko are.
