Turkey-The Worlds Going Mad
Military Coup underway in Turkey.
Turkey President claims they're still in power, via Skype in a bunker.
The Military have taken control of state TV and the airport.
Crazy..this isn't good.
Den...when you going to Turkey??

Re: Turkey-The Worlds Going Mad
Got a friend who used to advise the Foreign Office - and he reckons Turkey will become fractious after this.
Keep and eye on the FCO.

Re: Turkey-The Worlds Going Mad
30th mate.
We did a bit of shopping in the Trafford on Sunday mornin and i went over to Thomas Cook to look at the possibility of changing destination, but we couldn't as we leaving in less than 2wks.
It didn't bother me, but the Mrs was getting really worried about all the shenanigans on Sunday morn (hence i had to scoot over to TC) but tbh she's calmed down now.
We're goin to Kasadasi, flying into Izmir....it's nearly 370 miles to Istanbul, so hopefully we won't have any problems . I'm keeping an eye on the news of any further developments though.
The UK Foreign Office has relaxed its travel advice for Britons visiting Turkey following a failed coup.
The situation in Turkey "appears to be calming", it said, but visitors should still avoid public places in Ankara and Istanbul, particularly demonstrations.
Coastal resorts do not appear to be significantly affected at present - but visitors should still be vigilant, it said.
