Joe Hart....
Many papers claiming Hart will be dropped for today....surely not? If so, I can see him being finished at City - as this isn't something like the last time he was dropped.

Re: Joe Hart....
He's partly to blame for being shit at distribution for so long, but surely he deserved first dibs?

Re: Joe Hart....
Sorry, got to disagree. Nobody deserves anything.
As much as I love Little Joe, he has been underperforming.
Yes he's way better than Willy, but I think he's been dropped to force a move. Pep obviously doesn't think he'll fit in, so he has to go.
Well get a decent fee for him, we will sign a new first choice, and Willy will be dropped back to the bench.
It sends a message to the whole squad, that nobody can rely on previous reputations.
We now have the manager we all wanted, and now is the time to trust his judgement.

As gutted as I was - and yesterday, for some strange reason it didn't sit well with me....I think TBW is correct.

Re: Joe Hart....
From more rumours, it seems we have agreed terms with Brava. Hart needs to be playing to have any chance of keeping his England spot. Pep's surprise statement by leaving him out of the 1st game is telling Joe to find another club quickly. He's got two weeks to find a PL club and the only ones that can challenge and don't have a top keeper are Liverpool. He may think about Everton as they've got the money.
Funny thing that we heard the rumour that Everton wanted him a long time ago.

Re: Joe Hart....
We have all said, for as long as I can remember, that Joe's distribution has been woeful. Therefore it's no surprise to me that he doesn't fit in with Pep's plans for the future.
It is a shame, but there are better keepers out there (and that doesn't include Willy) so we must be looking to improve.
If the Everton rumours are true, then I just hope we do to them what they have done to us with the Stones and Lescott transfers, and that is hang them out to dry and demand top dollar. However, I think we will have our pants pulled down on any deal.

Joe's only 29 so should have the best part of 7 or 8 yrs in him. We can hang onto him until someone pays what we want.

I just can't see Joe playing second fiddle. He will be No.1 at most other clubs and will want to move on I reckon.

Re: Joe Hart....
I agree TBW. Willy's passing is about as poor as Joe's. Hart is a better keeper by Friday. Slap in the face and hart has to leave.

Re: Joe Hart....
Joe signed a new contract as well last year...£100-120k pw. Will EFC pay that for a keeper?
Guess it all depends on what Joe wants. He can say no or, he can put in a transfer request if he feels there's no chance of him being number 1...therefore, we may have no choice but to accept a decent offer in the £15-20m range.
I don't think he wants to go - but as number 2, he'll be dropped for England...and he won't want that.
Shame, I'll be gutted to see him go - as yes, his distribution isn't great and he made one or two ricks in the Euros, but how many times has he personally saved us in games over the past 5 years? Maybe if our defence weren't as shit as they've been - he wouldn't have to have saved our skins so many times.
Statistically, the more shots he has to save, means more opportunities for goals against - yet, he's won 4 golden gloves.

If Bravo's agent says "we're almost done with City"....then Pep had no intention of picking Hart for the opening game and will probably play Willy in the CL game.

Re: Joe Hart....
Wow... He's out for one game and look at all the speculation! We also didn't play TLF or KdB or Nasri, so are we selling them too? Pep had four pre season games to assess his squad and he said he plans to give everyone a game. I think we should wait and see what happens.

So he did. I must've forgotten, seeing as he didn't do very much.

Re: Joe Hart....
Anyway, my point is, we shouldn't be getting sucked in by all the media speculation. Hart's been dropped before. Maybe Pep was keeping him safe for Tuesday. Maybe he's giving him a bit more time to get up to speed. We don't actually know and Pep hasn't given very much away. Let's just wait and see what happens before we have the riot we keep chanting about.

Re: Joe Hart....
I think the fact that Bravo's agent has said they're nearly there with negotiations, the 'rumour' that Pep has said if an offer comes in they'll sell, the dropping of him for the opening game and the reluctance from Pep to quash the rumours when asked in his post-match presser....says to me there's far more to this than paper speculation. The EFC thing was raised a week ago, before anyone thought about Hart being a non-starter the closer the game came.

Yeah, lots of rumour and conjecture. We've seen a lot of stuff, but you'll have to forgive me for being the kind of person who'd rather wait for something concrete to happen.
I'll be pissed off right enough if he is sold, though. It'll be the least popular call since Howard Kendall sold Ian Bishop.

Only reporting what the media are saying. I hope he does stay and fight for his place, as I'd rather have Joe than Willy, any day of the week.

Re: Joe Hart....
I don't get the reasoning of paying if reports are true 21 million for a 33 year old goalkeeper with our back up keeper being 35 years old. It really doesn't make sense to me Yes Joe has had a troubled couple of Months but he has the character to work through that & come back stronger. I guess it all depends on the messages he is sending to pep.

Maybe Bravo is being bought to replace Willy but £21m for a number 2 keeper aged 33 sounds odd.

Re: Joe Hart....
We would be absolutely crazy to get rid of Joe. He is one of the best GKs in the world. Surely he can work on his distribution & ball playing skills rather than getting rid especially in favour of a 33 yr old

Re: Joe Hart....
His distribution has always been poor but his goalkeeping has always been world class. Pep has been looking for a month so he made his mind up early. Maybe Joe thought he didn't need go up his game. There's a Thierry Henry story where Pep told him to stay wide. He came away from. His touchline, got the ball and scored. Pep took him off at HT. That's how serious the is.

Re: Joe Hart....
But we should not be accepting anywhere near the rumoured £15-20M as he us only 29. We are going to pay more for an older and less able keeper. Joe will be a great asset to PL teams as he is English.
