City v WHU - Live Thread
Wonder if Vinny will play a part today?
Watching the latest City TV video, he was running, training, tackling etc at full pace...and Sane.
If Sane's fit, can see a sub appearance from him. Didn't see Sagna, so I'm assuming he's still carrying the tendon issue.
Willy
Zaba, Stones, Otamendi, Kolorov
Fernandinho, Silva
Sterling, KDB, Nolito
Aguero

Good to see Itchy fit. I think he's saving Sane until after the international window. Maybe Germany won't call him up after his injury. If he'd played today then maybe they would have taken him.
Interesting to see Nasri on the bench

interesting scenario after the international Break could be up to 3 debutants for city in the Derby? Bravo, Sane & Gundogan also the possibility of Vinny's return?

Just cannot see 3 new guys and one back from LT injury.
If we win today, and have no injury worries, I can see Bravo stepping in and maybe Sane, but why change a winning formula?

See WHU have gone 3 at the back.....that will either be a genius move - or suicide within the first 20 mins.

Can't believe their player hasn't been sent off yet. One yellow, one warning and then leaves his studs on Stones!!
Said...the first 20 mins will be important...we could be 4-0 up already.
Brilliant set pieces from KDB....and well done Raheem!!!

Brilliant half. Our pressing forces them to hoof it. Their pressing gives us the opportunity to slice right through them.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
This is, in essence, practically the same team as last year. We've got a keeper that most think is worse than last year, Stones replacing Kompany and Nolito instead of Navas.
I don't think, as individual players, we're much better than last year but tactically and motivationally, we are miles better.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
I just hope ref says he saw Aguero incident with Reid in his report otherwise video evidence. I can see a charge of violent conduct & 2 to 3 match ban as it was as clear as day on the video replays Aguero elbowed Reid right in the face.
I don't know if it is still the cityitis in me but my criticism is the way we play square ball's around the back 4 before moving it forward or playing it to guys who are marked. If they don't control it we could be in the shit likewise a couple of square passes notably Zabba & Clichy that don't reach there intended person. Willy gives me the willy's every time we played a backpass as he does not inspire me with confidence regardless of what has been put out by the media/ press.
Harsh to criticize after a win but we made hard work of it & our next opponents will punish us more than West Ham or Stoke would when we were only 2-1 up.
If we could play the same in both halves, based on our 1st half performance but put away the chances then we would be virtually unbeatable.

Always believed Blue. Kept saying Pel played Sterling all wrong as did woy. What a difference when he's played in, or putting balls to his feet facing the goal not with his back to goal & a full back always up his arse. How that Full back was still on the park beggars belief which is why Mike Dean would have sent the bugger off.
Who cares if Dean makes the headlines the next day the right call is more important. Marriner proved just how inconsistent premier league refs are.

Sky nobs are right thought if that was costa he would get a ban. Reid made a proper meal of it with minimal contact but intent was there. Lets hope ref says he saw it.

Quinn the wanker.....why not the support for an ex team player???
Billic just said... "we were going to take off Reid anyway, and I don't think Sergio meant it"
However, with the derby looming, we ALL know they'll 'do'us with a 3 game ban....never been sent off in his life, but they'll keep the rag love in and make sure he is.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
Who said Sterling was a bad player?
Had to go out just after they scored so missed the rest of the game. We did seem to get some jitters after they scored. Did we regain our composure and poise quickly?
The game should have been put to bed in the 1st half - we had so many good openings. Ref just refused to give that defender a 2nd yellow.
The good thing, for me, is that we didn't cave in and carried on to get the win.

I missed the game... Was on my way back from holiday and one of our party had a brake failure, ended up getting home ten minutes after the final whistle. Sounds like I missed a good match.

Leo, the first half was some of the best footy I've seen in the last 3-4 years, maybe longer. West Ham are a decent team and we made them look third rate.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
As dawg said...brilliant football in the first half. Should've been out of sight, however, our passing went awry in the 2nd half and when they scored, albeit against the run of play (they did become more adventurous), it was a little nervy for 10 mins after they scored. However, we soon gained control and in all fairness, regardless of what the pundits and media may say, we should have won that 6-1 at least.
Willy made some nice short passes, however, he was at fault for their goal and made some awful passes as well.
Aguero may get a 1-3 match ban - IF THE MEDIA TOMORROW HAVE THEIR WAY.
However, let's hope the ref saw it and puts it on his match report that he didn't deem it aggressive.
KDB, not for the first time, delivered some amazing free kicks, however, he looks way off the pace compared to some others.
Sterling and Silva in particular, were excellent today. I'd have given Silva the MOM, bit Sterling's 2 goals won him the award.
Aguero was sporadic, which happens whenever he's rested...he was like that last season. I'd rather we keep playing him as he looks so fit.
Good 3 points.!!

If the ref says he didn't see it then I'd be amazed, you watch it back on MUotD and he's stood watching it happen!

Silva was MOM for me - was the playmaker for the first and third goal and he was just brilliant throughout. Thought Fernandinho was excellent also. Sorry to see Nasri go - he looked pretty sharp and almost scored a couple of times.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
Nasri can still stay as far as I'm concerned. Once we get rid of Bony and Mangala, we have a squad. If Yaya goes too, that'd be better. With Joe set to leave, I think our squad would be under the 25 maximum. No need to purge anymore if Nasri is pulling his weight.

And he has a lot of weight to pull!!
But I'd want him to stay too. He's an arrogant cock, but he's a good play maker.

Absolutely...you'd have to ask the question "well, what exactly were you looking at?" if he said he didn't see it.
They'll go all out to get him banned for the derby.
TBF...Sergio was stupid.
Collina always said, when asked by junior referees how he determines intent...."if the hand is clenched like a fist - chances are it's with intent.
Aguero's was definitely clenched.

But the ref also saw yellow card offences from their left back after he'd already been booked and gave nothing.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
I have seen it from a number of angles one looks like he, ( Reid )been given a right dig, The next angle looks like he missed or slight contact at best he went down clutching his face yet came off holding his throat. I have a feeling Marriner who appeared to have a good view may have seen the play acting which may explain why no action was taken.

Re: City v WHU - Live Thread
Just heard Graham Poll on TS.
He reckons if Mariner had yellow carded Ageuro, not further action would be taken, however, as he gave nothing, he'll probably say he didn't see it and therefore, he'll be banned for the derby - fucking great! Well done Serge.
For me, he definitely led with a clenched fist and elbow...missed with the elbow and got him with his fist.
Stupid...let's hope it's one game and not 3.
