The law is a fucking joke

18 months for killing someone for careless driving. Whilst awaiting trial, he went through a red light and was chased by police. He drove at up to 90mph in a 30mph zone and led the police a merry dance for 8 miles. For this he was charged with dangerous driving.

18 months is all he got for the two offences and he'll probably be out in 9 months. Disqualified from driving for less than 4 years.

Fucking joke.

Yep, the law in this country is a joke.

This woman got a 'CAUTION'....a fucking caution for hitting a woman across the head....it's common assault!

That deserved a lot more than a caution. It was a solid slap as well.

I heard something on the radio a few weeks back where several politicians said we had too many people in prison and wanted to reduce the prison population from the high 80sK to somewhere in the 30sK.

That's incredibly stupid. If prison doesn't work, then we've been paying (as taxpayers) for twats to run and manage them and with no real benefit expect locking people away.

If you deserve prison for your offence, then you should get to go to jail.

Let's work on making prison work rather than arbitrarily reducing the prison population because it's costing too much money.

£30k per year for one inmate....and we pay for it!

Put them to work on road-gangs....get them digging roads, cleaning up the streets, graffiti etc....rather than sat on their arses 23 hours a day, plotting their next crime when they get out or playing on their bloody XBox's!! It's fucking pathetic!

Read yesterday that Peter Sutcliffe now has a butler on call, 24 hours a day! WTF?????

Pay them for the work they do while inside, that's only fair. But, deduct it from the £30k a year it takes to keep them inside.

Maybe, once they're outside, they will continue to work within the aw if they can make £30k a year from legitimate means.

Sounds fair enough.

I think prison should be reserved for people who commit serious crimes.  No putting people in jail for non payment of fines or taxes, that's just stupid.  And people convicted of fraud should have all their assets seized and sold to repay those they have defrauded.
