Deadline Day Approaching
So with transfer window closing this week, what would be a successful week?
for me I would take -
Messi / Sanchez
VVD / Gibson
don't think we really need more?
still need to ship out Bony. most of the others are gone, possibly Mangala too if we get another CB in.

Sanchez and VVD. But not likely to happen. Looks like VVD will go to the dippers

I'm thinking Sanchez and Gibson is realistic.. do not want Evans.
Would like us to go full out for Messi just because....

Jonny Evans will be coming sadly, not VVD.
Think Arsenal will do everything possible to keep Sanchez now they're selling the Ox.
I'd personally like to see a cheeky bid for Muller. He's not happy at Bayern, if Arsenal refuse to sell Sanchez.

Going to cost gooners 400k a week to keep Sanchez, just can't see it?
I think Johnny Evans is nailed on unfortunately and we will pay the 30 fooking million as we are mugs.
And I think that will be it I'm afraid. Sanchez next summer on a free would be brilliant. 60m now again we are mugs imho.

John Cross really is a worthless excuse for a journalist. Wasn't he one of the inbred merchants that had a good go at city for the Hughes sacking?
Most likely outcome for the rest of this window is we get JFE.

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
I don't think we would want Sanchez next summer. he will be pushing towards 30 and not ideal for a pace-player.
Messi, would love us to go flat out now for him. again, next summer not sure if this could happen. either way, before he puts pen to paper on the verbal agreement Barca announced, we have a shot. once he signs that he is never leaving Barca.
Evans just doesn't make any sense. many far better defenders out there, many younger defenders out there.

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
I agree.. Sanchez would be ideal for this season as I still think we're short up front. Next season on a free and huge wages and a signing on fee, but he'll be another year older.
Rumours are we are now going back in for PEA which makes sense or it could be a ploy to make Sanchez force a move this week.

Lots of smoke and mirrors. And even more bullshit abounds.
None of our fringe players really wants to leave mainly due to the money they are earning. Can't blame them really can you?

Delphinho could do worse than trying to play more as cover full/wing back bit like Ferdy.. might keep him in the fold more for cover as Fernandinho is well off the boil.
Arsenal in for Evans, I like this one, keep shim away from us.
Sanchez probably will be done this week. don't think we will offer Sterling, and Aguero definitely not going.
PEA is just to ruffle some feathers I think as you said above.

BBC Sport's David Ornstein and Simon Stone: "Manchester City want to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez before Thursday's transfer deadline.
"The Chile international hit 24 Premier League goals for Arsene Wenger's side last season but is out of contract next summer and is yet to agree a new contract at the Emirates stadium.
"Manager Pep Guardiola is understood to want to bring in Sanchez, 28, as a straight purchase."

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
I think Delph is unlucky because he is home grown, we need him for the numbers, but he won't get much game time. I like him though, if he got a run I think he would do a James Milner role for us. He doesn't stop running.

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
We don't need Delph for the numbers. We don't need any HG players at all. We are only allowed 17 non HG players on our squad of 25.
If Delph isn't going to play, and I can't see him forcing his way past Yaya, Fernandinho, Gundogan et al, then he should leave.

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
From the BBC...
Bear with me on this one...
Arsenal have joined Manchester City and Leicester City in the race to sign West Brom centre-back Jonny Evans.
Evans will only be allowed to leave The Hawthorns once the Baggies have a replacement.
Their preferred target is Manchester City's Eliaquim Mangala and with Manchester City the preferred destination for Evans, that deal would appear straightforward.
However, Mangala would prefer to join Inter Milan.
To further complicate matters, Inter's prime target is thought to be Arsenal's Shkodran Mustafi.
But the Gunners will only sanction the departure of Mustafi if they have a replacement, ideally Evans.
But, as mentioned, West Brom will not let Evans go unless they have a replacement - ideally Mangala - and Manchester City will not let Mangala join West Brom unless they get Evans.

Cant see Sanchez coming now. Not enough time for the Goons to get a suitable replacement & their club is already in meltdown after the Dipper battering. I hope Im wrong though coz Sanchez is a great player
I fear the only transfer will be the biggest waste of money since RSC, Mangala, Jo, Bony, Rodwell, Bianchi etc etc ... ad infinitum..............................the world beater Johnny Evans

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
Ok. Cat amongst the pidgeons.
Would this be a good deal?
Sanchez plus cash, for Raheem Sterling?
I know some don't like Sterling, but I do. He gives us something different and I don't even think he knows what he's doing half the time! Pep seems to like him, and I've no doubt with his pace and unpredictability, if Pep can more goals from him, he's young and could be some player in 2/3 years.
However, Sanchez plus cash?
Arsenal could easily say "it's that deal or nothing"..
City have said they want a cash deal for Sanchez and Aguero and City have said he's going nowhere.
Thoughts?
Should we, for example, get Sanchez and let's say £20m in exchange for Sterling going to AFC? Or, should we hold out for a cash only deal....now Roberts has gone to Celtic on loan?
Personally, is keep Sterling and tell Wenger to fuck off, your player wants to leave, so take the cash.
An extra £20m means nothing for me, we don't need the money and would lose a young English player.
I think Sanchez will do everything to force a move today or tomorrow...and no doubt, meetings are at a far advanced stage than we know about...or not.

I agree with you Andy I wouldn't want Sterling to go. As u say he offers something different. He's still only young
and we'd be daft to let him go
As much as I'd like Sanchez we don't really need him but cash or foxtrot Oscar to Wenger & he'l come on a free next season

Re: Deadline Day Approaching
My only concern Tony is that Jesus and Sergio are the only real strikers we have. Aguero has started off in the same vein as last season (missing too many chances) and Jesus, as good as he looks, is still relatively unproven. And that's it. The likes of Sterling, Sane, KDB, Silva's so far, don't look like they'll chip in with 20+ goals so far.....so that leaves us very short in the goal scoring department.
Sanchez has been consistently good with goals and assists in the PL....and again, like Sterling, provides something a little different and has a far greater work ethic than most at our club....can you imagine what Pep could do with his work ethic if he can get an extra 30% out of the likes of Silva, KDB, Aguero etc??
We'll be going out full tilt for the PL and CL this season, so we'll need more than we currently have up front IMO.

I reckon Sanchez would get us between 12-15 league goals if he came. He probably wouldn't start every game with so much competition for places unless he was in a seriously hot streak

why not offer arsenal sterling on loan for a year with an option to buy clause. We buy sanchez in a cash deal. that keeps all parties happy ( and we have no intention of selling sterling once the 12 months is up or we ask 100 million for him as an option to buy. Sorted!!!!!!
