WBA v City - Live Thread
First topic message reminder :
So...what's everyone hoping for in the United v Spurs game? A battering for the rags would be hilarious. A win for them, not so much. A draw would good, as long as we take advantage of that later this afternoon.
Will Sergio start and finally get his 178th goal?
Let's hope we can get back to some dazzling football. The last 2 games haven't been great...but we won both.
I can see WBA doing what Burnley and Wolves did. Sit with a 6-man defence, 3 in MF and a lone striker...and let us have the ball. That means we need to make sure we get width, drag them across the pitch and them have a quick change of direction, get in behind in the spaces and take our chances when they come.
Don't give them easy free kicks around our area....be disciplined when they have the ball, but break quickly using our pace against their slow CB's when we win it back.
Any streams...please post them on this thread.

Sunday Supp reckon that Foden will end up leaving like Sancho because he never got a game in the first team and we refused to sell him to interested clubs.

Bollocks. It’s just part of their agenda. Right now, I think Foden is definitely knocking on the door as we head towards the busy holiday period

Ian Ladyman....notorious rag supporter. Wouldn't listen to anything he says.

Given the statements from Pep regarding Foden I think Foden will still be a city player for a number of years to come. Foden has already said he believes pep is the best coach in the world and that can only help his development, so why would he up & leave now?

If a player comes through the ranks, and is a fan, then they are more likely to stay a few years to see what happens.

Funny reading through some of the comments about the game & the sloppy passing was mentioned. I can't remember who said it but I had a chuckle when I saw the stats at the end of the game, 804 passes completed by city. a record since opta stats were 1st recorded in 2003,2004 season. It just shows how we see different things when watching a game.

we were very pedestrian though. yes lots of passes, but not enough urgency or killer instinct on them that we've been used to the past couple of months..
stats don't tell the whole story..

Not sure the overall 'sloppy' comments were about passing. I think many were mentioned after the 2 goals we conceded.skyblueoz wrote:Funny reading through some of the comments about the game & the sloppy passing was mentioned. Yep, it was a record for passes - but that could have been a lot higher. Some players did give the ball away cheaply. Sane was one of them. Bernardo probably helps with the Opta stat, as he plays about 10 passes over 5 yards in about 10 seconds.
We weren't quick at going forward as we have been. A lot of possession gets the opposition running around, but there were so many times when we had the opportunity to move the ball forward, bypassing their MF's and into the pockets of space in front of their defenders - and yet, it just kept going sideways and backwards allowing their MF's to get tighter to Jesus, Sane and David.
I think that was the main gripe from Saturday.

Re: WBA v City - Live Thread
We have about 78% possession and we’re just passing it around the defence and midfield when we went up 3-1. That massively improves the total passes. Any stat on pass completion? Or passes in the final third?

Re: WBA v City - Live Thread
not having a go I was just thinking of the irony. Also there was one passage of play where 4 passes were made sideways/ Backwards to the same players silva to delph to silva to delph and we ended up with a sideways pass to fernandinho which actually propelled us back about 5yards or so the silva in question wasn't Bernardo. we do pass an awful lot in the final third, my gripe there is that we do at times over play the passing instead of pulling the trigger. Still if that is all I have to bleat about when we are playing the best football I have seen at city then I can live with it.

Yep....agree with that Oz. Wasn't meaning to insinuate you were having a go....but wanted to clear up any of the 'sloppy' remarks.
