City vs Feyenoord
already thinking ahead to this. Obviously we want to win.
Bravo
Danilo, kompany, mangala, Zinchenko
Yaya (sadly)
Bernardo, Foden, Gundogan, sterling ???
Diaz
Keep the big guns for the bench.
We should be beating them even with this team

Daft question, but can we add Foden as a kid, even if he wasn't nominated in the CL squad...or was he?

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Don’t need to name the academy players in CL
He might be playing earlier in the day though in the youth version

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Win this & we finish top of the group & can play the B team & kids for the last game before we play the rags. A strong team, but with players who diddnt play on Saturday e.g Kun, Gundogan, B Silva etc.

The way we start games we could have it done & dusted by half time make changes for the 2nd half & play the kids away in the ukraine for the last game.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
I forgot where I read it (probably MEN) but Pep has already confirmed that he will be making major changes for Tuesday & I've got a feeling we will see a lot more rotation in games going into the crunch December period.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
I was just having a look at the table and previous results..
if we beat Feynoord and Napoli beat Shaktar,
Napoli's place would be dependant on us beating Shaktar in the final game... so we could -put the kids out and eliminate Napoli?

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Why would you want to eliminate Napoli though? They play some nice football. Personally I would play the kids in the Shaktar game because the next game is the derby & we would have nothing to loose. The funny thing is finishing first in the group would mean that we avoid Barca & PSG, but we could face Real Madrid.

On reflection I would go with this for Tuesday:
Bravo
Danilo, Otamendi, Mangala, Zinchenko
Yaya
Bernardo, Foden, Gundogan, Sterling
Aguero

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Found the quote from the MEN:
“Against Feyenoord I will change the team completely,” said the City boss. “What happened with John Stones shows the calendar is so demanding and we have to rotate the team this month and we will do that game by game.
“Fortunately we already qualify for the Champions League but the problem is we have a lot of games. The calendar demands so much from the players and that is why we have to have big squads to rotate because it is impossible to sustain these players every three days.
“The players who didn’t play (against Leicester) are going to play the next game but also some of the players that did play are going to play too. I have to think about it but Danilo, Yaya Toure, (Ilkay) Gundogan, Bernardo Silva are going to play for sure.”

I wouldn't risk Vinnie for this game and would probably give Sergio & Jesus only 45 mins each

Sounds like Foden and Diaz will get their chance at some point soon. Not the same feeling for Tosin .

Re: City vs Feyenoord
He also made the point that the young players need to be surrounded by experienced players & that he not throw several youth players on at once. So from this I read that he will play 1-2 academy players max per game.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
He said we have 3 players for CB - Mangala, Otamendi and Vinnie. Not mentioning Tosin is damning for me.
But he's still training with the first team squad.
I'd have him out on loan somewhere from January (or at least when Stones is back fully fit).

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Looks like they may also play a slightly weakened side:
“We have an important match this weekend against Groningen. We don’t want to run any risks tomorrow with players that have any small complaints.
“It’s not an approach I would normally take but at this stage of the competition and where we’re at, it’s something I’m bearing in mind.”

Re: City vs Feyenoord
earlyreportstoday FOden might be in for a start... would be ace, so long as he has support around him..
we don't need him to get overrun in Europe, wouldn't do his confidence much good, am excited for tonight now... (given we've already qualified, the nerves aren't there)

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Yaya in the Fernandinho role, with Foden and Gundogan in front of him.
Bernardo on the right and I might even be tempted to play Sterling on the left to support Zinchenko.
Rest Delph and Sané.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Zinchenko is not in the A-list squad, and I don't think he qualifies for B-list from my reading of the rules yesterday.
Possible line-up -
Bravo
Walker Ottamendi Mangalala Danilo
Toure
Gundongan Foden
Bernard Silva
Aguero
We could play it with Bernardo and Silva on the wings coming in narrow if we have Danny and Walker as full backs to overlap.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
this would be resting -
Ederson
Kompany
Delph
KDB
Sane
Jesus
although would be a strong bench, maybe have Diaz and Tosin on there if we do get a couple of goal cushion to rest some more up..?

Re: City vs Feyenoord
We have no one else in Delph’s position so it makes sense to rest him. Same goes for Sane and I don’t see the need to play Silva either

Would you play otamendi? He’s our number one defender now that stones is injured

Re: City vs Feyenoord
I would for a little stability.. and he missed weekend so is fresh.
Stones - injured
Kompany -only been back 1 game so don't risk him
Tosin - didn't play well with Mangala in the cup
Mangala - was in press confrence, so will be starting

Re: City vs Feyenoord
It’s a tough call. You don’t want to risk Vinnie or otamendi when we are already through. I can see otamendi and Mangala I’m defence though. Tosin looks like he won’t get a chance.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
But feyernood are the weakest team in this group. They won’t get EL either and are struggling a little in their own league. The feeling is they will be playing a weakened team.

Re: City vs Feyenoord
Sounds like its almost a dead rubber. I cant see the point of risking any of our stars but we have to put 11 players on the field out of our CL squad so 1 or 2 will have to play
Bravo
Walker Tosin Mangala Danilo
Toure
Gundogan Foden
Bernard Sterling
Aguero/Jesus (a 1/2 each)

I think TMG's team is more probable, could even drop Diaz in for Sterling and go Diaz right and Bernard on left..
