Could Arteta really succeed Wenger?

Could Arteta really succeed Wenger?
That's the rumour. Wouldn't it be a bit too soon for Arteta and he hasn't even managed a club yet. The apprenticeship he's getting with Pep is the best in the world, but is three years as an assistant enough to get him the top job in North London?
If I was Arsenal, I might go for a combo of Viera and Arteta.
