Kicking off at the match yesterday
I'm sure anyone who was at the game yesterday saw it kick off with the police and stewards. This video has been posted on youtube. Lots of blues making complaints to Showsec and GMP and asking the club to look into it. If any of you are that way inclined might be worth posting a link to this.
Hope the blokes ok, and that the matter is looked in to myself, thought the police and stewards couldn't have handled it much worse.

Too close to see what really happened but should be better on city's state of the art cctv. Your safety is my priority? Think it should say legalised thuggery is my priority

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
Apparently he was asked to sit down, despite the fact all the Villa fans were stood up, and so was a lot of blues in the section he was in - apparently they do this at each home game, pick someone out. Anyway he refused so they called in the police, but by the time they came over he had agreed to sit down. Will have to see if anything comes of it anyway.

Peter Fletcher or whatever he is called (cunt in charge of stewarding) sent out letters asking people not to stand up.

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
What a fucking joke. GMP are a disgrace and if a 'trained' Police officer cannot show some common sense and say "stay seated otherwise we will have no choice but to eject you from the stadium" - then they want a fucking slapping and re-trained. An old bloke being dragged from his seat for standing up? That sitaution could quite easily have turned into carnage if some less 'sensitive' supporters were in the area. I hope MCFC invesigate the Policing of that incident - as we pay GMP fortunes to look after the safety of the stadium and it's fans...and all this has done is infuriate the public and add fuel to a fire that is always raging about uneccessary Police tactics.
Now, I know the Police face some difficult situations, but does that mean they handle them all in the same way? Does it f*ck!
I say investigate mcfc what happened - as they can clearly see the faces of those responsible. Hope the old fella is OK.

What a joke, Is it a pre-requisite to be a mindless automaton, spouting "company policy" shite, to be a steward?
Didn't it occur to them, when he clearly said "I take 5 tablets a day for heart problems" to use some common sense and leave him be?

Can't believe he'd have been the only person stood up at any one time, he'd surely have stood up as everyone else stands up to get a better view. If this was the case then they're out of order to treat him that way. However, if he was stood up on his own and continually annoying the people behind (and they've complained), then they're well within their rights to eject him.

ejecting is fine - but man-handling somebody who looks like he is in his late 60's is another thing. this could have been another Ian Tomlinson.

How are they supposed to eject someone if they won't comply and budge from their seat then?

Taser? Though we saw what happened to Raol Moat!! How the fuck should I know Shaken, i'm not paid £30 per hour overtime to deal with old men who stand up in a stand to see a game he has paid for due to others stood up in front of him!...................for all i know, he's some trouble causing old godger........but somehow i feel i may have given him a speaking to and then Tasered him if he didn't comply!

Tasered him, for standing up
It looked like nobody around him was complaining, more like some "little Hitler" thought he would be an easy target to turf out.
Modern football eh

They'd probably taser the wrong person blue . Without all the facts mate, it's hard to really know who's at fault. Admittedly though, it did seem a tad extreme.
It would annoy the fuck out if me if a person in front kept standing up and wouldn't sit down.

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
would you really call for the stewards to get the police though Shaken? I think you may, as an adult tell the guy to sit down - but i guess we don't have the full facts. still - carry your own taser from now on!!!

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
Shaken he was stood up on the front row of the singing section (if I'm not mistaken), but so was everybody else in that block so it's not like he was blocking anyones view. Apparently they do this at every game, pick on an individual for standing, whether those around them are standing or not, reports of it happening regularily at other grounds too.

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
Well if they're the facts, then they're bang out of order grated.
We, as football fans (through the clubs), pay the police to do this too.......like they've got nothing more serios to be doing . Is there any point in having stewards then?

That seems to be what's going round, hopefully the club will investigate anyway and we'll get the facts rather than hearsay. I sit in the tier above though, and although you couldn't see what sparked it, it was obvious that the police and stewards only made the situation ten times worse.

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
my test case for all these 'heroes' is would you do that to a 6 foot 4 black man weighing 20 stone who looked like he could kick the shit out of you?

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
Most of the stewards are rags, at the semi, I got jibbed by one, shoved him back asked him if he was a steward at Eastlands, he said yes then said he would ban m if he saw me at the game.

One of the stewards has got my son's mate banned for standing up, did just what you said Grated picked him out from the crowd and also said he didnt give a shit as he was a Manure fan!!
He has wrote a letter of complaint to the club....will post the outcome.

The club have taken a slightly disappointing approach; stating that there had been several complaints about the man in question standing up - the club know full well that everyone in that block stand for the full match, it's why they buy their tickets there.

Re: Kicking off at the match yesterday
If he has a heart complaint he should have just sat down when asked instead of getting himself all het up. In fact what the fluck is he doing going to watch Man City for with a heart problem. I find it difficult enough with a healthy heart
