Storm in a tea cup... with friends using it as a term of endearment the "wassup my ni**er" I can't see what the issue is, they're both good friends so it wasn't used in a denigrating way, in any way shape or form...

My wife ( who is asian) calls me a "dirty white boy", again, between people who are close it's said in a friendly way....

Far different if it's being used in an attacking/insulting context, but aren't a lot of words?

The top and bottom of it is not what is being said,it is how it is being said,and officialdom cannot tell the difference.

Hmmm...not sure my wife would tolerate me calling her ANY racial-intended words - of love or otherwise. She's half Indian/Irish...and been called a Paki all her life from time to time....so I guess when you are subjected to it - you kinda understand the relevance of those words - between friends or not.

Not sure any of her friends have ever called her a Paki or an Injian to her face as a term of endearment. Each to their own though.
