Dream football league
It's all over if this happens...
The world's leading football clubs are to be offered £175m to
participate in a 24-team tournament every two years in Qatar and
neighbouring Gulf states, according to the Times (subscription required). The
league, branded as the Dream Football League, will be backed by the
Qatari royal family with plans set to be announced next month.

Re: Dream football league
This was always going to be introduced sooner or later.
I presume this isn't going to interfere with the football seasons throughout England and Europe, if that's the case then fine but if it does and they end up dropping out of a domestic cup or something similar (like the Rags did a few yrs back), i personally think if any team from England participating should be booted out of English football altogether........including City.
The top teams from the PL are earning more than enough money at the minute, entering this would be nothing more than pure greed....plus, i bet it wouldn't go towards the FFP rules.
Don't really know the logistics of when this is going to take place yet, so i guess we'll have to wait for full details to appear.

Re: Dream football league
I totally agree, Shaken. If each club participating makes £175m each, I dare say that UEFA, who no doubt would get the TV rights to sell on in the European market, would deem this as "earnings" and therefore be allowed under FFP. And with this money rolling into a handful of clubs, the leagues will become such one horse races that they'll end up all looking like the SPL, with one cash rich leviathan battering every other team and rendering it impossible for anyone else to compete for anything. And the sport as we know and love it will be totally, utterly dead. Unless, as you say, the clubs involved are removed from the league altogether.
I doubt we'd be classed as a "leading club", but I'd go along with us being hoofed out of the PL if we were introduced to this new league. And then I'd have to find a new club, I can't afford the air fares to go to the UAE
