Shocking tackle. He might've been able to justify the high boot had he not locked his leg before impact. And given we've seen players walk for much, much less, I think he should get a retrospective ban.

I'll be pulling for Wigan Leo - Millwall v Blackburn games were the most boring football I've ever watched. I want it for Martinez - he's done a great job - not to mention Millwalls's fans - worst in the league. Thugs - just like Leeds fans.

Yeah, me too....like Martinez and the way he sets up his teams to try and play nice football, regardless of the result.

As for the tackle? Not good and seems the kid has done this before.

People were saying the same thing about NDJ after his tackle on Ben Arfa, another Newcastle player. The referee that day saw it clearly and decided it was a fair tackle within the rules of the game, the assistant referee had a clear view too and never flagged yet despite this NDJ was pilloried by pundits and rival fans alike and labelled a thug. Because of his high tackle while playing for Holland in the World cup they just linked the 2 things which was wrong in my view as he was at fault in the WC one but not the Ben Arfa one.

Callum did make contact with the ball - and his follow up caused the injury - as Whelan said he was on the receiving end of a similar tackle and had his leg broken. He knew it wasn't intentional and I don't think this was. If Tevez had made that tackle - we would have said "he's not that sort of player" - so I think you are being harsh on the lad. Not like it was Joey Barton or Charlie Adam.

Give him the 3 match ban and let that be the end of it. Should have been a red but don't think there was intent, but need to learn that it was a dangerous tackle and therefore a red.

Not sure when he has done it before Blueboy? He hasn't played much in the Prem to be honest and only recently starting games. From what I've seen he doesn't seem a malicious lad and has had his leg broken himself I've heard.

He may well have got a slight touch on the ball but he's caught him on his knee....not his ankle or shin but his knee.
Intentional or not, i personally think it was a disgraceful challenge.....ban him for life i say!!!!

All fair points. Okay, just so nobody has to suffer the Millwall fans for any longer than they have to, and because Martinez is just a jolly decent chap, and because of them we won't have to worry about playing Everton in the cup (which pleases me enormously, I have to say), I'll side with Wigan.

Blueboy is right. Not only has he done it before, but he also did it on Gai Assulin during a Wigan v Man City game. Caused quite a bit of frictions between the two dugouts also.

Gai had to leave the stadium with his leg in a brace after the tackle.
