Zaba Player of Year... Empty Zaba Player of Year...

No surprise there!

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2013/June/Zabaleta-named-Player-of-the-Year

Pablo Zabaleta has been voted the Etihad Manchester City FC Player of the Year for 2013/14.

‘Zaba’, who joined the Blues from Espanyol in 2008, received 68% of the votes polled by official supporters’ clubs and fans online after a superb season during which he clocked up 42 appearances and scored three goals.

Pablo also wore the captain’s armband on numerous occasions in Vincent Kompany’s absence and also won successive Etihad Player of the Month awards for January and February.

Never afraid to put his body on the line, his numerous gashes, bumps and scrapes have endeared him to City fans for whom he has become a cult hero over the past few years.

Pablo said: “I would like to say thank you to all the City fans who voted for me. This is a great personal honour and sits alongside winning the Premier League title, captaining City and playing for my country.

I'd be interested to know who the other 32% voted for.

What, Dzeko polled more votes than Sergio "Here we go, let's have a league title" Aguero??

That said, the number of times I've seen people on City's facebook page write "Edin Dzeko the best" on every post, I suppose it's no real shocker he's up there. Seriously, they're everywhere! Whatever the topic actually is, be it, "Who is your favourite player?", "Who scored the best cup winner?" or "Which player from the 1968 league winning season deserves immortalising in statue?" and it's all these Eastern Europeans chiming in with "Dzeko is City". Morons!!

It's all immaterial though. Almost 7 of every 10 fans voted correctly and that's good enough for me.

Leo.can I assume you are not a fan of Dzeko?Put it in perspective Leo, Edin was never given a fair crack of the whip under Mancini. He scores four goals against Spurs and gets dropped for the next three or four games.Every time he was played his contribution was very fair. And given his appearances his goal ratio was good.If he stays he may get a better deal with whoever is the next manager, and if Jesus signs for us he will also get the service!! Not the case, Bob. I was just a bit surprised that he rated higher than Aguero, especially since the Argentine works bloody hard and the big lad from the Balkans doesn't.

Dzeko has a good following from the eastern Europe. 'tis also true we've never seen Dzeko fully match sharp as he got dropped every time he started firing.

I wonder if Dzeko will stay now. I think it may be worth it, especially if we don't pull in another striker. Navas can supply crosses pretty well I imagine.

Hey, if we can get the big fella scoring like he did for Wolfsburg, he can stay as long as he wants! I'll just be glad to see a player who can actually hit the back of the net more often than he misses!

I'm sorry ceb, i'm not having that for one minute. His contribution in most games was virtually nil.
Ok, he scored a few goals, but imo his overall effort throughout a game was pap....with a big capital "P". I'd sell Dzeko at the earliest opportunity, he simply ain't good enough.

4th in the poll, certain City fans need help.

He does have a decent scoring record, though in some games it seems he wasn't trying or really motivated. Maybe that had something to do with being on the bench regardless of the goals he scored.

He looks like a confidence player, maybe he'll get that under Pellegrini and he'll be the guy we saw at Spurs and various other times in his first full season.

Would you say he's worth the punt for another season? I admit that if we can get rid and bring in someone else better then it'll be good business.

Why has the Lewandowski saga gone quiet? Where is that dazzler going?

If he is that poor why are so many managers interested in him, including Mourinho? My deal would be to trade him to Benitez for Cavani, before Chelsea do a deal!! Smile
