2nd signing - Fernandinho
Reported in he Torygraph that he'll be signing for about £27M which is a bit expensive for a 28yo. We're not a week into the transfer window and it looks as though we have two done deals (just about) already. Cavani, Isco and Pepe before the end of next week and our business is done!

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
Personally don't get this signing, unless we have a midfielder about to leave......we must have a bloody full squad of midfield players alone.
If Isco come too, then there's another 1.
Out of the 4 names mentioned above, i'd prefer Isco, Cavani and Pepe.
**New Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is keen on Dzeko now, let's hope a biddin wars ensues .

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
Not seen him play to be honest, so can't pass judgement, maybe the NDJ factor is still stinging upstairs? Never really replaced Nige, and with Garcia still needing to improve, and Barry on the wane, not to mention Yaya overused last season, we weren't the force of the title winning season.
If we intend blazing a trail on all fronts next season, we need a squad that can be truly adaptable to each opponent we face, without reducing the quality, which was quite evident when we had the likes of Kolarov et al, stepping in to play midfield?!!!?*#%!
If Dzeko can be used in exchange for Cavani, that would be ideal, and while I believe he could have a good season with proper service into the box, Cavani is most def an upgrade, has that quick sharp strikers mind, and would make a brutal attacking force with whoever partners him, or supports him in attack.
With Jesus Navas arriving ( at some point) Silva will take him under his wing while away on the Confederations cup duty, and give him the lowdown, which I think he's already been seduced by, I think City are really setting the benchmark in how the player experience is overall, and with possibly, a world leading Academy coming soon, it really is going to set us apart in the Prem, and make it not just about the Mon€¥, I think we are well on the way, why else would players be so happy to sign new contracts with no manager in place, or publicly quash any transfer speculation ( Vinny, Sergio) if they weren't happy at City?
New Academy, Stadium extension, New York City, New manager, new players, next season is going to be a damn site more interesting than the last, that's for sure!

It looks like we will be adding some pace at last. Barry's days appear numbered with all these MFs arriving. Barry has done us good services but we have to move on.

Blueboy, you have clearly never watched Navas. Don't just go off this seasons statistics.

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
Jordan - not only is it his stats that worry me its the fact that he has been treated for panic attacks whenever he leaves Seville - and even his brother has said he doesn't like the pressure outside of football, he doesn't cope with all of the attention........so he moves to Manchester and the world's worse press for intrusion! Yes, I've seen him many times and he's had good and indifferent games when I saw him. Shit is probably the wrong word, but if we are selling off Dzeko and we're not going to bring Cavanni in....what's the point of signing an out and out winger who doesn't score many goals?? Another Adam Johnson??
Just underwhelmed with what we've bought - guess time will tell.

If Navas isn't worth the money we've paid and has a crap season, I will go to the first home game of the following season in a bikini.
I'd look bloody fantastic in a bikini. But I'm confident Navas will be an amazing signing for us.

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
But would you wax first Jordan? If we mess up we are screwed so I can't believe we are messing up. Navas played in Spain's world cup winning team, he's gotten over his problems, with help, and created 70 odd chances last season (about 2 per game). He's not the best, but he is much better than what we have in Sinclair.
The guy has played over 20 times for Spain and they are a tough squad to get into, let alone tough team.

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
apparently all these panic attacks are long past. They appeared in the first few years of his career. I think Navas will be a good signing. Johnson scored plenty of goals for us but in all honesty I don't really remember to many wingers being prolific goal scorers Best & Ronaldo aside. We have enough goals around the team I think. I really don't know much if anything about fernandinho so obviously that signing is a wait and see. Cavanni must be a priority and if Benitez is so keen on Dzeko then go all out to use him as part of the deal before chelsea nip in with offering Torres. Pepe is 30 years old , I think 21 million is abit steep for someone his age I would rather we test Dortmunds resolve with a bid for Hummels.

Good thing about Navas is the injection of pace we desperately needed last season. But I'd much rather keep Dzeko and see how he can operate with some decent service rather than always having to receive the ball with his back to goal
Fernandinho appears to be very expensive for a player who can't get into the Brazil side but we shall see

I'd rather keep Dzeko too and add Cavani as well. If Dzeko doesn't do the business with the wingers and attacking play, then he can go in January. I'm sure someone will gladly pay us £20M for him then when their Champs League ambitions are looking shaky.

Apparently he's had, or having a medical now.... What's up with our City OS..? But slow on the news front, or are tet waiting or the obligatory shot with shirt and for Pellagrini to sign on the dotted line before we get the official confirmation ?!!!!

I know what you mean, Beware. I read a report earlier on about how Navas is an excellent addition to Pelegrini's squad, and yet neither has "officially" signed. What's up with all this dawdling? Hurry up already!!

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
FERNANDINHO sacrificed £4million to make sure his dream move to Manchester
City went through.
City paid Shakhtar Donetsk £30m for the Brazilian midfielder, 28, but there
was an outstanding £4m due to the player as part of his contract.
Neither club was prepared to pay it, so Fernandinho simply gave it up to
ensure the transfer did not collapse.
He said: “This is a change, a challenge and a chance that I have been waiting
a long time for.
“Playing in the Premier League for City is like a dream. My ambition here is
to win all the titles.
“Professionally, this is a spectacular thing.
“Playing for a huge club in a huge league makes me so happy.
“I hope I will be able to repay City for what they have done for me.”
Fernandinho, who agreed a five-year deal worth £140,000 a week, is the second
signing of the Manuel Pellegrini era at the Etihad, following £21m Spain
winger Jesus Navas.
Chilean Pellegrini will officially be unveiled as boss on Monday.
hmmm...unusual in the wold of football mercenaries!!

Re: 2nd signing - Fernandinho
He'll make his four million back in his first season, plus interest. Maybe he knows this, so losing out on four million from Shakhtar wasn't a massive loss compared to playing in a team with a bigger profile (at least in the press) and thus enhancing his chances with the national team.
But we'll still be killing football...
