Edinson Cavani's mother has revealed that the Napoli star is in talks with both Manchester City and Real Madrid over a possible transfer this summer.
The former Premier League champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Uruguay international, while league rivals Chelsea have also been touted as potential destinations.
"Edi is in talks with Manchester City and Real Madrid," Berta Gomez told a radio station in Montevideo, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"The Napoli president (Aurelio De Laurentiis) talked about the possibility of negotiating with Chelsea, but at the moment there is nothing concrete. In 15 or 20 days we will know more and be able to say something."
Cavani's release clause at Napoli is said to be set at £53.9m.

Re: Mums the word! Cavani in City talks!
So, the, it's on, it's off, he's going to Chelsea, no he's going to Madrid, no it's doing my head in already... Saga looks to continue.
So, Cavani's not sure about Spanish football, but has open admiration for Madrid, and has already indicated he would like to work under Pellegrini ( or Maureen-o)
Looks like it's a shoot out a la Good the bad and the ugly! Still, the other day it was all over, now were in talks!.....

Re: Mums the word! Cavani in City talks!
So an apparent ITK states "Isco is 50/50 and Cavani is very unlikely. To put it into a sentence, my source comes from someone who is in personal contact with Txiki."...... Which, realistically, sounds about right, so maybe sticking with our strikers and improving the service with quality wingers might be a better alternative, and enable us to hit the ground running ?

Maybe that's the way to go. Give Dzeko, Tevez and Aguero some firepower from out wide, more options for formations and not over-spend.
Never been a fan of Dzeko - but his goal to game ratio is pretty impressive.
I'd hate to lose Carlos as he drives us forward in games when it's tight and scores some very important goals for us.
I think Aguero had a poor season overall compared to the previous, but there's no doubting the guy is pure class.....so maybe with a new manager, the players we currently have will up their game by 25% which is where they were playing for most of the games last season - 75%.

I think we will see a different Carlos and Sergio too with a man that speaks their language. You can only imagine the dressing room conversations between them and Bobby. Although reading between the lines he left the talking to everybody else, ie moonface ......

Cavani to snub City move
Cavani: Made his choice?
Napoli striker Edinson Cavani's father says his son will reject a move to Premier League side Manchester City in favour of joining Real Madrid.

On Friday morning the Uruguay international's mother, Berta Gomez, confirmed City and Madrid are the favourites to sign the 26-year-old, but Luis Cavani has now claimed the Galacticos are Edinson's preferred option.
"Cavani's intention is to play for Madrid," he toldFutboleros. "He is excited about it and is very willing to see it through.
"He has told the family in private that he wants to join Real Madrid but if he declares it publicly it will annoy Napoli."
Cavani Sr went on to reveal contact has already been made with Madrid, but that Napoli's asking price may prove a stumbling block in contract talks.
"There has been contact with Real Madrid's lawyers and now we are waiting for the two clubs to meet," he said.
"I hope it happens and that talks take place as soon as possible. Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid?
"It's not just up to Edi. They are talking about 65million euros and Napoli won't negotiate for any less."

Re: Mums the word! Cavani in City talks!
Right, this is my take on all this bollocks:
Let's cast our mind back 12 months, to last close season's European flavour of the month - Eden Hazard. He did exactly the same thing, dicking about, not committing to anything, playing everyone off against everyone else, before settling on Chelsea and then, laughably, being useless against any side that was considered competition.
Will history repeat itself? This pundit says, yes, probably.

Re: Mums the word! Cavani in City talks!
If it was a pure footballing choice, then he should come to City, as Madrid will make him bend to Winkers will, and shoe horn him into a system, same way they've done in every season by buying the best players and then trying to hammer them into an alien system.
What will probably happen, is that he'll go to Madrid, and have to play second fiddle to Ronaldo

But that should suit us... Let Madrid pay his buyout clause, let him sit on the bench for 12 months and we get him when his value drops.
