Re: Newcastle vs City
Newcastle will want a win on Wednesday after being done by Sunderland - bad enough being beaten by your rivals, but when they can't even buy a win, it's doubly embarrassing. I suspect we'll have a scrap on our hands. So let's go there with a decent team.

Nor you - Kolorov, Demichelis and Garcia in the back 6? Jesus, Remy will be rubbing his hands at the slowness of those 3.shakencity wrote:Take it your not taking this competition seriously then.

Garcia can feck right off from any team, including the EDS for me.
But I would play Demichellis just to get him match fit.

Demichellis needs the game time so will definately play. Clichy was shockin at the weekend, so will be dropped for Kolarov and can you really see Yaya playing?blueboy wrote:Nor you - Kolorov, Demichelis and Garcia in the back 6? Ok, if Garcia doesn't play (but i think he will), stick Rodwell in if he's fit.

Re: Newcastle vs City
Demichelis needs game time and this is a better game to be getting him into the team than the one against Chelsea. I also agree with Kolarov, he's been looking pretty sharp under Pellers.
But Garcia? Not a chance. Rodwell all day for me, and give Yaya a rest.

Well...i think we've witnessed 2 players on the park that either need to pull their finger out....or fuck off in Jan, as I'm fed up of them....
Dzeko.....the most useless twat I've seen wear a City shirt...lazy as fuck.
Navas - why the fuck have we bought him? He hardly goes past anyone, and when he does his crosses hit the defender. AND NEVER tracks back!!

Listen....a goal means fuck all...we should be battering a poor team like Newcastle with our 2nd 11....look at Chelsea last night.
Sorry, but Dzeko is shit, regardless of his goal and assist in the 94th minute...the other 93 he did fucking nothing....and in a PL game...he wouldn't have had that opportunity.

Pants did very well. That is Dzekos game though, never in the game but all of a sudden makes 1 and scores 1.
He is an impact sub pure and simple, but he can turn it on when needed.

Because he doesn't favour the appropriate foot. Like that really matters in a player who operates in a central position. Please, don't ask, I've been scratching my head at that one.Nijinsky wrote:can someone tell me why lezza doesn't play in vinny's place
Not the most enthralling contest ever and half the players looked a bit lethargic. Like they'd climbed all those fooking stairs to get to the away section. Christ, it's a long haul, I was knackered! But a win's a win, nobody knackered themselves too much, Pants definitely did enough to prove he's worthy of a shot in the big games and JoLo really ought to be on the park instead of Garcia.
And now we've got Leicester. Which reminded me of this...
That's pretty spooky, and the fact Stoke and Spurs are still in it just makes it weirder...skyblueoz wrote:Judging by the rounds so far Wigan & now Newcastle we should get Leicester in the next rnd then Stoke in the semis & spurs in the final

Re: Newcastle vs City
Last night, particularly in the first half, you could have picked probably any of the outfield players and said that they were under performing. Negredo replaced Jovetic on 10 mins but did not really produce anything special in terms of performance the whole time he was on the park yet he scored.....after great work by Dzeko. Yet still Dzeko bashing continues on this site, leave the guy alone he is a City player, he does not go out and intentionally play badly. Some players need to feel the love and it's hard when you are now 3rd or 4th in the pecking order. Last night he was no worse than any one else and managed make one for Negredo and score another yet still he gets abuse.
Why has Negredo not been mentioned? He was not better than Dzeko in fact i would argue that Dzeko was the better of the 2 last night.
We are all entitled to our opinion but continually bashing City players is best left to rags and others.

You sure?
MCM.....Dzeko is shit, I stand by that comment and don't feel I am a lesser City fan than you for saying it.
Why can't we bash a City player on a City forum if we want to? If not, let's all be delusional like the Rag websites and have a 'love-in'?
It's what the forum is designed for.....I'm not going to change my opinion of Dzeko or Garcia because some feel we shouldn't say anything bad about them.....and I'm sure if we got 'loved-up' with those 2 players, they ain't going to be better players because of it.

Re: Newcastle vs City
And I'd agree with you. Dzeko was better than Negredo last night. But one game doesn't make Dzeko a better player. We've all seen him loll about the park looking disinterested on far more occasions than we'd care to see. In the short time Negredo has been with us, he's looked more keen to get onto the end of crosses and try and score. Obviously time will tell, but for now I think I'm with the majority call here.ManCityMan wrote:Why has Negredo not been mentioned? One game isn't enough of a basis to either slate Negredo or kiss Edin's arse.

Re: Newcastle vs City
I was not trying to kiss anyone's arse. It is a forum and anyone is free to criticise players if they wish i was wrong if i suggested otherwise, however, it's ridiculous to keep bashing players simply because you don't like them even when they have not had a particularly bad game and in fact won the game for the team and arguably been one of the better players on the night. I actually agree that Edin is priobably our 4th best striker now and i also agree that he does not have a great work rate and will soon be moved on.leopold wrote:And I'd agree with you. I, like most of us, prefer Aguero and Negredo and i was disappointed to see Jovetic go off so soon as i was hoping to see him in a full game, he will be more consistent than Dzeko when he settles in and gets more game time.
I was mainly looking at the game against Newcastle, it was not a great performance from the team as a whole and i was just pointing out that its a bit unfair to still pound the guy when he won us the game and was better than the widely accepted better striker and others. Credit where it's due and not just kicking the guy just for the sake of it is all i'm saying, if he is shit in a game i will be the first to say so but on this occasion i don't believe he was.

Re: Newcastle vs City
All of which are fair points, MCM. But you're preaching to the choir with me; I understand everyone has an opinion and everyone has the right to express it. But part of this is to understand that people can, and do, have diametrically opposed views.
I can see from your response that you generally agree with the consensus that Dzeko isn't the hardest working player and that he's generally not of a level that we need to win matches consistently. I don't think anyone will argue with that, although some haven't expressed it quite as tactfully as you've done.
And yes, Dzeko pretty much won us the game on Wednesday, as he has on a few other occasions, which is fine. But I think the key problem we have here is that he's just not consistent enough. It's all well and good coming on and winning the occasional game, we need him to do this all the time and he simply doesn't do that. I'd liken him to Berbatov; Bone idle, but sometimes pulls the result out of the bag.
I personally don't think anyone is saying Edin wasn't good enough against Newcastle (but feel free to point out where someone has done), but like I said, one game isn't enough.

I don't actually think Dzeko was that good at all, the goal aside. He simply does not work anywhere near hard enough off the ball for me which is criminal in a high pressing game. I was getting very frustrated with him in all honesty. I don't think he is a bad player though, I just get annoyed about how good he could be if he applied himself more.

He set up one and scored another....both in time past 93 minutes.....for the rest of the game, he was bloody awful. My point was that against a very tired team, he did that.....but isn't the 90 minutes where he is supposed to prove his big price tag? For me, sorry to upset others.....he's shit. 1 good game out of 5 or 6....doesn't prove anywhere near his price tag.
He has the odd game where we ALL say...."Dzeko put it in today".....but that is very, very rare.....he had the opportunity to show MP that it's not all about Negredo and Aguero......but for 90mins...he was rubbish, poor touch, can't leap, can't track along their back 4......he is, as Leo said......Berbatov in a blue shirt.....but with a touch nowhere near his!
Sold in January for me.....and I stand by that. MCM...wasn't having a 'dig' at you personally fella.
