FIFA report exonorates Qatar bid

That was to be expected. But they laid into the FA. That wasn't expected.

Russia's bid team rented their computer equipment (bollocks) and returned the equipment after the bid process so they have not track of emails. Codswallop.

If all the teams that entered the bidding process for 2018 and 2022 left FIFA, that would cause a problem.

Yeah, apparently we were trying to buy votes by offering services to one of the voters.  The fact we only got two votes in the first round would suggest we were in no danger of perverting the vote.

The lawyer dealing with the claims reckons FIFA's findings are a bid dodgy.  This might not go away yet!

Can we not just tell FIFA to FUCK OFF!!!!

Apparently around half an hour ago the bloke who wrote the report and passed it to FIFA has accused FIFA of mis-representing his findings and twisting his words. That i can easily believe, filthy corrupt organisation.

Just heard a member of the UK bid team talking about it.

In the report they seem to be deflecting questions about certain countries by highlighting that the England bid included the following:

- help for a person of interest to Jack Warner, to get this person into the UK and a part-time job

- Played an under 20 tournament in T&T to help out Warner

- paid $55,000 to fund an open event for the T&T team in the UK.

That's pretty much it.

However, this UK bid member said: of the accusations, we have absolutely no idea who this supposed friend of Warner's is.
He went on to say that when the England U20 team went to T&T, they were the only team asked to attend for their centenary and this was approved by FIFA.
With regards to the cost of funding a T&T event at a cost of $55,000, this again was run past FIFA prior to this going ahead and FIFA ok'd this.

What he said was that the Russian bid committee hired IT equipment, including laptops etc for their bid. During the subsequent enquiry set up by FIFA over the bids for 2018 and 2022, they asked for documentary evidence from England, which was all passed over, however, the Russians said they gave the laptops back to the company they hired them from, so don't have any documentary evidence or paper trail of how they put their bid together, payments made etc etc.......I mean can you fucking believe that nonsense???

And that's acceptable to FIFA???????

The Russians cannot prove how their finances were raised, who/how they funded and secured votes, entertained guests etc etc etc...and they are bidding for a World Cup, but decided not to bother to keep any evidence of any of the work they had done for the bid?

Political whitewash by FIFA and it is time that we pull out of it.

As per the Evans' rape case - when one decided it wasn't palatable, others will follow suit.

I think it's absolutely disgraceful that FIFA would approve of us going to Trinidad and funding an event, to then throw it back in our faces as evidence of corruption.  But, if FIFA are using this as evidence, then surely their prior approval means they've actively condoned it?

I suspect this is more a case of FIFA biting back.  We raised the concerns of corruption, so they're going, "Well, actually, it was all above board.  But while we're on the subject..."

As for the Russkies "losing" all their data, that's a classic case of obstruction and I'd want the lawyer to start picking over the finer points to see if they can prove anything.

No Leo.....they didn't lose it, they just said we don't have it as it was all on the laptops which we gave back to the hire company (now deleted)....and didn't think there was ever a need to save anything!!
