Barkley £60m

Well you just knew that Everton would slap something stupid like that on him, especially when it's being reported that we're interested in him.

Is he worth £60m?....no. In my opinion he still has a lot to prove and his fitness issues are of concern to me too.

Has he got potential?....yes. That's why i think we should go after him, but maybe around the £40m mark.

As mentioned by a few before, this deal could be part financed by the sale of Yaya (if anyone will have him that is), so it may not be that costly at the end of the day...especially on the amount saved per month on wages alone.

I think we'll save £6M a year on wages easily if we sell Yaya and replace him with Barkley. I heard Yaya was on £225k p/w and Barkley could well come in on £100K p/w.

Over the next 2-3 years, that's not to be sniffed at. If we seriously wanted Barkley, we should have gone after him in the summer when we may have got him for under £40M.

I think there is a huge problem now with kids that have any reasonable sort of potential. They are going to be priced up very high, very quickly. Inter would price Pogba around £60M and I don't think either is actually worth that much. They have a lot to prove first. They may actually be worth it in 2-3 years time, but then they'd be quoted at £100M!!!

Another reason why we have got to get this academy right.

I'd rather go for Reus anyway. He's only 25, available for around £20M (if the release clause is to be believed) and would save us about £2M-£3M a season in wages over Yaya. And he's a proven talent.

We should be going all out to get him if he's available. Come on, we can get Hummels and Reus for under £50M and their combined wages wouldn't be much more than Yaya's. If we sold Yaya, we'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

The obvious reasons to go for Barkley are the fact he's English, he'll be on less wages than a certain mercurial, precious African and he's got a fair number of years ahead of him.

But he's not worth £60m.  That's a ridiculous valuation.

Hummels and Reus would be a better shout from a value perspective, but neither are HG and therefore we'd struggle to shoehorn them into the restrictive requirements forced on us by UEFA.

If we could lure him away for £40m, that would work.  But I'd rather see us promote from within.  Surely one of those EDS boys are ready to try out by now?

If we let Yaya go, we'd only be one over on HG. Surely we can find someone else to let go and then promote from within.

If we don't renew Demichelis' contract then we'd get them in, though I'd like to keep him.

Thinking about it, the restriction won't matter come January, we'll be out of Europe by then.

Those fellas wouldn't come in January and have already played CL so, even if we did get through, they couldn't play for us. They'd be just like Yaya then...

I don't care who we get....I just want the lazy bastard gone and off our wage bill.

reus & Hummels for me too & would also look at Varane.

Those three would be wonderful. Sell Yaya, pay about £40M and get younger players who want it more.
